Don't dispare, jolo, the first one I did took me nearly 2 hours, and I was ready to throw it into the back garden more than once. I was really trying to use pieces that were the same size as the section on the paper, with the quarter inch added on - wrong! I couldn't get any of them to fit! I captulated, and now I cut all the pieces at least half an inch all around, and rarely have to redo a section. It seems very wasteful, but I have done 125 blocks so far, and only used 4 yards of muslin background, so it doesn't seem so wasteful after all. The next learning curve is how to place a triangle on the back, so that when you flip it, it ends up in the right place. Believe me, it comes with practice. Don't give in just yet.

Oh I am so happy to hear that it took you 4 hours to make the block. I am so frustrated about being so slow with pp . I usually am fast with my work. And also I am starting so late in the game too. I am now trying to catch up on reading all the treads too. Jolo

Jolo, take heart! my first few efforts make me laugh now when i think about them. It really does get better, but there are a few blocks that will make you wonder why you are doing it, the smile when they are done makes it worthwhile.

Hold on a minute, Jolo, I said nearly 2 hours, not 4!

Think my first couple I counted in days not hours. At the same time I was going from hand piecing to machine.
New words I didn't know I knew. But I have this things if someone else can so can I and you can too.

Oh...you'll eventually get it...It took me forever it seemed to learn to PP..and to fold the next section down backwards to make sure your piece would be big enough. I'm not going to admit how long my 1st blocks took...heck...they still take me a long time, but then I'm not a fast sewer.

curves when done by hand are easier for me. On the machine,if you ever set in a sleeve, just remember how you eased the curve so it went in smoothly. same difference, sound good? Jolo
