I love all of the tutes you are sharing. I enlarged my squares to 5 1/2" finished. I am going to have to do some math to use these ideas but I really like the results.

What is a 'barkertown Jane??" - the easiest way to add a photo is to click on the box that shows up in the last section of the toolbar when you type a response I think it has a picture of a tree in it? When you run your cursor over it it says 'insert image' and a small screen will come up that allows you to browse from your computer or internet. You just have to make sure you are on the 'my computer' section to browse and insert and when you find the picture file click on the 'upload files' in the blue cloud below your file name. OH..... I seem to remember being told this and not seeing that toolbar if you cant see a toolbar ask again - meanwhile I will try to look it up and post the rest of the directions.

Cut & pasted from post #698 - found where Nancy had told me how to reset your general setting to find that 'filmstrip tree!'

Take note - everyone who has no tree or world, filmstrip, font choices bold italic underline or size options available to them - this is awesome!! just what I need, something else to occupy my time

What you need to do is to reset your "general settings" :
1. click on "settings" at the top of any page ...waaay up top to the right
2. scroll down the far left column and click on "general settings" - under my account - which is under my settings
3. scroll waaay down to the last section on your right to "miscellaneous options" and click here:

4. last - click "save changes" at the bottom and you too will have all these wonderful options.

Gus, thanks for posting the icons directions. When we first set up this new site, PatriceJ and I found this 'trick'. I'm just so surprised that there are so many folks who do not have the icons as a default.
I'm glad that your surgery went well enough. PT is the answer. I've known several knee surgeries that went well the first time and not so well the second. When I had my shoulder surgery, I didn't get my full range of motion back for almost a year.

I cut out my 4 outer borders this morning and I hope I get to trace the pattern onto at least 1 of my borders today. That is why I'm so far behind on my Lemon Jane. I am really trying to finish AOTH. I hate UFOs.

Here are Weeks 25 and 26. Both E4's are so crooked I think I'll square them up and add narrow borders in the style of Jane Stickle.

ahem.... ok ...OOH! katybob awesome blocks and E4 = very skewed. The drawing in the book is a rectangle & very incomplete - your blocks are perfectly fine!

So I am official caught up... for the next 24 hr anyway! I make no guarantees about tomorrow...

Here are my E4 and RS11. I used the EPP method to construct E4. The dark fabric I used was one 5" Civ War Repro charm square. First I thought you weren't supposed to have those background 'trapezoids' below each of those four print tris, but Brenda's sketch is a rectangle & when you look at the block in the original quilt you can see that some of the background does show. I think if you wanted to make it 'exact' you would probably need to stretch the inner large diamond to the very corners, but close enough! I did NOT use PPing to construct RS11. I found it very straight forward and EZ to make without messing with paper. The seminole style rows are made out of 1 1/4" strips. I noticed there were three sets of white-print-white in the three rows and 3 of the white-print segments set on point. I started by cutting 2 strips of print 1 1/4" x 4 and 3 strips of background 1 1/4" x 4" ....[ATTACH=CONFIG]347397[/ATTACH][ATTACH=CONFIG]347399[/ATTACH] After cutting these strips I sewed together the following sets, long sides together: background-print-background and print-background. I cut each into 1 1/4" widths, making three of each. Then I staggered the way I sewed them together so they would be on point when I trimmed down the background.[ATTACH=CONFIG]347401[/ATTACH] I cut 3 additional pcs of background 1 1/2" x 1 1/4." For the bottom longest section, I sewed two of the B-P-B sections and one B-P section and finished by adding the 1 1/2" side of the B even with the bottom edge of the P[print]. The middle section was - B-P-B to B-P to B, smallest section was B-P to B.

Next, I added a 1 1/4" strip of BG to each of the section ends - these will be trimmed down later to become those side triangles.
I then turned these sections so the print squares were on point and trimmed them down 1/4" beyond the points for a seamline. I cut a long 1 1/4" section of print which I attached to the TOP of all three sections. Join the bottom of each section to the top of the one below it, while taking care to match the center line [this is actually easier than it sounds because they are all center print square on point.][ATTACH=CONFIG]347402[/ATTACH]How do you determine which end is the top??? There are more BG squares at the bottom.[ATTACH=CONFIG]347404[/ATTACH]Next I used my DJ triangle ruler/template to trim the sides so the final pieces could be added. I lined up the bottom of the top print square with the "3" line. Next I added a 1 1/2" square of BG to the top, trimmed it down again, added 7/8" BG strips to each side and finally a 6 1/2" x 1 1/4" strip of print to the bottom. I did end up wasting a little, but really an insignificant amount. I had slivers left [sometimes I get too close to exact for comfort and end up having to reverse sew and take a smaller seam.][ATTACH=CONFIG]347406[/ATTACH]

For those of you curious as to where in the general scheme of things we are... I have finished 64 blocks. There are 11 more blocks scheduled for the next 4 weeks, til the next break August 5. At this point we will have completed 75 blocks!!! ONE-THIRD away from completing 225!!
