Hi Cindy,
I just trace any block onto FP - just in case it should jam DH's printer !! I would be in trouble if I did that LOL !!

My printer ate the freezer paper, too, so I ordered a 500-pack of 8-1/2 x 11 freezer paper sheets from C. Jenkins and haven't had a problem with it since. I don't remember what I paid for it, but it wasn't outrageous and I think it's certainly worth whatever it cost. It's here: www.cjenkinscompany.com

On the scallops, I followed Linda Frantz's advice and stitched the edge of the scallops after the quilt was basted. I've read so much about the quilt over the last couple of years that I don't remember where I ran into her post about the scallops, but I have it bookmarked if you want to read it.

@ Katybob and Dotty: I just placed an order, Katybob. I hope it works for me as well. If not, I'll just keep tracy, Dotty!

Also, I'm about to order some silk batting from Richland Silk co. I bought a sample of their silk batting many years ago at a quilt show. It's true what 'they' say, it's like quilting butter. I have a top I finished a while ago. It's a Tennessee Waltz (alternating 58-40 or Fight and Snowball blocks) that I'm going to hand quilt. It is expensive batting, but I don't hand quilt very often, so it's worth it to me. I believe the last quilt that I hand quilted (and finished!) was when my 16 1/2 yr old son was an infant. So I think I'll invest in a silk batt every 15 or 20 yrs.

I'm following this Dear Jane thread and saw the post about silk batting. I ran across some on sale at Fabric Depot.

Hi there, I joined QB just in time for midnight 2012 mainly because of this Dear Jane forum. I've read the entire thing and just love the warmth and support let alone the knowledge and advice. I plan to start my quilt this weekend but feel a bit paralyzed by the beautiful work you guys have put up. It has also taken me ages to decide the background fabric. I've ordered a cream solid but I am probably still making up my mind. I guess most of you don't want to rehash what you worked out a year ago but I just wanted to say how much I think this is a wonderful resource. my New Years Day is drawing to an end as most of yours is just beginning. Hope yours is relaxing, fun and peace filled!
