CindyA- nice block!

I've finished four. Three batik and one cotton. I've started A10 and have the reverse appliqué melon finished. I'll finish it when I return from visiting family in Idaho. the batik background is the same neutral color you see in the A12 block. I don't know why pictures are different sometimes.

some of my friends want to start the dear jane and form a club but not quite sure how to go about this seams like everyone works on a different schedule has anyone done this before and if so can you share ideas how we can make this work. dont want to be pushed but dont want to take forever either we feel like if we have a club we will stick with it more and get it completed any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Linda,

do you mean a group that meets or an on-line group here on the Quilting Board? The schedule that Monica made for us has worked really well for me personally. I've never completely kept up with the schedule. When I miss blocks or weeks I just jump back into the schedule according to where we are supposed to be. Then if I actually do finish the blocks for that week I'll go back and make up a block I missed from a previous week. But I always start on Sunday with the blocks we're scheduled to be doing that week. She built in 'make-up' weeks which are really nice. This schedule has allowed me to keep going, I've made a lot of progress and I've never felt like it was an impossibly daunting task.

it will be a group that would meet maybe every 2 weeks and sew together I attended a club one time for this but it did not work because everyone was on a different schedule could not make it work.

Linda - When I made up the schedule for this I took the suggestions of some who had been in an early DJ group here. The main comments were that they wanted some 'cohesiveness' - to be able to at least roughly see what was coming together - so I worked the schedule going down from Brenda's A through M but focusing heavily on the "EZ" blocks as listed in her software. If you look at the schedule in the first post to this thread the greens are ez and the red the most difficult. For those who have the book some of the sketches will not look like the original blocks. If you have the software, the original blocks will sometimes be found among the 'center block variations.' I also put the triangles throughout the schedule so they wouldn't be daunting at the end.

I have a friend who is making Jane with a group of women - all at their own rate and all by hand! They are working theirs from the center out and with an around the world scheme in mind. G7, then G6 and G8, F7 and H7; then G5&9, F6 & 8, H6 & 8, E7 and I7. and so forth. It works for them. They are sewing them together in a circle as they go - for me this would be hard because I havent decided how I want to quilt yet, only that whether by hand or machine I will QAYG. This can't be done in a circle fashion!

Whatever you decide- enjoy it!! and dont let any of it get you overwhelmed You can ask questions here or PM me any time

I just learned that Brenda Papadakis' husband has passed away. I know that all of us who love her quilt will keep her in our thoughts and prayers.

Katybob - thanks for letting us know! Oh dear - I will send her an email. I have her phone number and have spoken to her in the past, but I will wait on that one...
