And to add insult to injury to my life...I just found some money I didn't know I had...and my vacuum just broke. Gee, that was a fun find, eh?
Isn´t that just always the way, you get a bit flush with money (well sometimes) and then something goes a breaks your least expect. Happens to me .... a lot. Love that quilts name.

Esq - do you want to borrow my sign: "Housework won't kill me but I'm not taking any chances?" With that attitude a vacuum cleaner becomes decidedly unnecessary.

The good news is that there are many reviews online so you can do your homework. We have a cannister we got at Sears - it gets the job done. (Just wish IT did the job by itself.)

I have a Janome 11000 and wouldn't you know it, I decided to practice my stippling today and my machine isn't locking the stitches on the back. My family is coming to visit tomorrow tomorrow so I will have to wait until Tues. to go to my LQS and find out what is wrong.
Ducky-We had a great time camping at Paynes Prarie SP just south of Gainesville, FL. We love to camp in SPs; so many trees and wildlife. I did have withdrawal from my sewing machine but I have resolved to have this special time with just my DH.

I have just spent hours reading all 43 pages of this thread and believe I need to jump in and do this quilt. I ordered the book last week and, wouldn't you know, didn't pay attention and it was shipped to my Washington address (and I am currently in Arizona), so now have to wait for it to be forwarded. Darn. Otherwise I would have had it yesterday.

With regard to Patti's notice about the Hancock's batiks sale, I got an email this morning that if you order tomorrow between 8 am and noon you get an additional 10% off your entire order. It says "Use online code ETNZF".

I am thinking for this quilt I will use Indigo Mirage from Connecting threads with pale blue, green, pink, and lavender batiks. I have one question about the applique using batiks: I have heard that it is difficult to do hand applique with batiks. Do you find that to be true, Lesley?

I am looking forward to being part of this group and hope to end up with a gorgeous quilt at the end. This is my year for stretching my boundaries and this quilt should do that very well.

Yippee ladies!!! I found a solution for lots of us worried about the hand embroidery and how to mark properly! I just got an email in my box about this new product. I'm going to order some to try it! Oops...I have to go get the link for ya'll...be right back

Welcome Judy! I know I'm not Lesley, but I can tell you that Batiks make for the best applique! It creases well and you can get sharp points..better than regular cotton IMHO. I love what you are using for your colors...that will be beautiful!

Patti, this looks great, thanks for sharing about it. Gee, can't believe I need to pay for yet more tools for quilting, lol.

Speaking of tools, I' ve only done little hand embroidery(French knot and satin stitch) for embellishing in a couplenofnsmall quilts, so never done much, would I need a hoop to do the embroidery for AOTH blocks?

Candi, I don't think you will need a hoop. Doing this little bit, I will be holding it in my hand to do it. Of course, it might depend on what size you are planning to make your blocks.

I am enlarging them to 10", Patti.

Judy, love your background fabric, your choices sound awesome.

Well, quite simply I love this quilt! I am going to join you all in this, but will probably make my quilt just a bit smaller than the size stated. Once I receive the book I'll decide for sure on my size and number of blocks. Can't wait to get the book. I'm ordering it tonight.
