The narrow borders are 1in finished on the original quilt, I have been enlarging those by 1.42% so they fit nicely on a 10in finished block (I am cutting my squares 11in as they just fit on Kona cotton that way).

I have cut my border fabric to 2 1/4in wide which is a tiny bit too big, but can be trimmed when I have stitched it.

Actually, I have in reality cut them 4 1/2in as I am sewing they back to back and will then cut them in half.

One half stitched

What it will look like (only on my design board so far).

My design, roughed out. Ignore the outer edge, I have made it wider

lacelady on page one posted a link. her links show the blocks. if you schroll down below the blocks, it shows a sewer at her sewing machine, and then below it, her quilt with a blue ribbon on it. that's what made me decide to do one.

AND DO YOU MEAN, I HAVE TO LEARN HOW TO DRAW LEAVES, AND SCROLLS, ETC. FREE HAND? OR DO I GET TO FOLLOW THE LINES?

You will need to purchase the book- Affairs of the Heart

All the patterns are in the book for each block. Some people are doing them as they are printed, some are enlarging them, some are even changing the look of the quilt while still using the block designs...You can do anything you like with it, but you really do need to buy the book. Its available on Amazon, at Joanne's, probably your LQS, ebay...lots of places.

I did part of the embroidery on Block #9. I'm hooked. I love doing the embroidery more than the applique. After flip-flopping on what I was going to use for the embroidery, I decided to use a dark gold DMC floss (a bit darker than Lesley's). I think I've found my "groove" with the stitch length, and I'm happy with the way it's turning out. Since I only work on this in the evenings, I probably won't be done with it until tomorrow night.

Good news Ducky, glad you are enjoying, thats the main thing.

I have to wait on my thread coming from Sth Africa, so I am doing blocks at random now (ha ha the easiest ones not) and I will save them till I get the thread takes about 2 weeks.

Looking forward to seeing your gold embroidery, Ducky. I thought about that, but then went with the red when I couldn't find a gold that I liked locally, and I wanted to get started. I'm with you, I like the embroidery part a lot.
