Finally thought I would 'pop in' - been quite a while. I feel guilty because I havent touched AOTH in months...many of them!! So Sharon - go ahead and pop in you will pass me by before long. The DJ is keeping me busy after both my computer and sewing machine broke down a few weeks ago... we are up and running and playing catch up with DJ - 2 blocks and 3 triangles behind [last week there was a total of 12 so progress in happening].... as for AOTH I should count the blocks I have.... wait... Ooooo... 16 somehow I thought there were more ah well. My avatar remains my favorite and maybe quit while ahead??? nah.... ufo for a while more & I will get back to it. Our next guild quilt show will be Sept 2013 and I was thinking I should finish this, the DJ, and quilt my 2009 quiltshow.com "stars for a new day" quilt for the show... an incentive!!

the rest of you keep up the great sewing

I just returned from a 2 week trip to Russia. If you ever get a chance to go there take advantage of it. It is a beautiful country and the people are very friendly. I can't wait to get back to work on my AOTH. I am not using the border pattern in the book. I designed my own border pattern from a roll of Viva paper towels. I think I will call my quilt Viva AOTH. I have 2 borders completed and attached to the quilt. The 3rd border is in the process of being appliqued and if I can have an uninterrupted afternoon I should be able to finish the applique and start on the embroidery. I have my quilt spread out on my dining room table and I love it. It keeps me inspired to finish it. I got a catalog from Connecting Threads and they have their black batting on sale. I want to get it ordered and then the quilting will begin. Come on Sharon, you can do it. I had never done hand applique in my life. I always did machine applique on baby quilts and wall hangings. I am now addicted to hand applique and I plan to do some more. Go back to some of the older posts and you will find all kinds of helpful hints and suggestions. They really helped me to learn how to do the curves and points.

Losie, I used that towel for inspiration for my border also. Didn't use the one in the book. I can't wait to see yours!

Looking forward to seeing pics Losie. I remember your paper towel pattern and thought it was nicer than Aie's border.

If I can get adjusted to the time change I might get something accomplished. I have my days and nights mixed up. I am just about caught up with the laundry and if things work out I might work on the border this afternoon. I'm looking forward to finishing it.

Hey ladies, anyone still out there? I've been awol since shortly after the board went through the major overhaul. I had an awful time at first and was so frustrated that some days I never went near my computer. Sad thing is, I didn't go near my quilting either! So my AOTH still hangs on my board--all blocks completed and the center pieced together with the first border attached. I think I'm about ready to give it a go again.. After all, this quilt was for me and Christmas will be here soon! Right now, I have to go look at those who finished and get a little more inspiration. Congratulations to all who did and for those still slogging it out..I never had ufo's before, this is a first for me and I don't like it!

Hi Roxanne - you are miles ahead of me. My few blocks are still on the design wall waiting for company.

You are so close to finishing - get back into it girl.

Roxanne and Deecee, I am still at work on my AOTH. I completed 2 of the outer borders and I am working on the third border. Things came to a screeching halt when I went to Russia for 2 weeks. I haven't felt worth a hoot since we got back. My DH got a terrible cold and I have laryngitis and I'm still tired. I am making 2 Halloween costumes for my DGGSs and I have got to finish them. I am going down to Hollywood, FL on the train on Friday for a family dinner at my daughter and son-in-law's house and I want to take the costumes with me. I pray that next week will be less hectic and I can get back to work on my AOTH. I took it to my Hobby group at the Woman's Club on Monday and all of the women were crazy about it. I think it is the prettiest quilt I have made in my 32 years of quilting. Get those borders made Roxanne and Deecee you have so many beautiful blocks already made; I hope you finish AOTH.
