I started a DJ during the summer and went crazy but have slowed down recently. Thanks for starting this, I will watch for your posts to stay motivated. I'm using the block tutorials from this link:

http://thatquilt.blogspot.com

They are invaluable since the software does not give instructions on making each block. The freezer paper-paper piecing method on that site is fantastic; there is no paper to pick out when each block is completed. I cut 8 1/2 x 11 sheets of it and print directly from my printer. Another must-have tool if you use this method is the add-a-quarter ruler.

DJ is a fun, challenging project! Thanks again.

The first group is how I got my Baby top finished. The ladies were so encouraging & helpful. I have her in the hand quilting stage now, waiting for cooler weather to return.

It really is more fun to quilt with a group - even one as spread out as we all are.

Enjoy the journey!

I am planning to start a DJ after the new year, so this would be good for me. I think I could handle 3 a week, but ??? You never know when life will get in the way. I have adopted Bonnie Hunter's attitude......"this is not a race."
I still have to get the book, software, etc., and try to decide what colors/fabrics to use. Thought I was all set, and then I saw the chocolate DJ. Now I'm wondering.....will do more research before the new year.

Hi, WOW - this is JUST what I need - ?3 a week - I will try - may be a tight squeeze - will see. I started my DJ in 2007 and then lapsed for a while. I have now done 102 blocks please see my link below - and am using Christmas fabric. I would find being given a block to do may be the push I need to get out of my comfort zone --- thank you

I have purchased the BOM for dear Jane from a Texas outfit--Stichen Heaven, I think. It starts in January and they send 10 blocks a month! Given I have never done an applique this will be a challenge! Once I saw the Dear Jane Quilt, I felt like I joined a cult. They had me and I was a happy victim!

I will look forward to your postings. Ginny

I would like to join in, but think two a week is more realistic
for me. I want to enjoy the experience and not in a hurry to
finish. Rather take time and do a good job, as I know some of the blocks are not easy. Looking forward to the trip. Thanks...

I think I would like to be part of this also. I have the book and have collected lots of civil war reproductions but just haven't started yet. This sound like what I need.
