Block # 13
1. T # 21 Med Cut two 1-15/16" squares
2. T # 21 Dark Cut two 1-15/16" squares
3 T # 20 Dark Cut Four 2-5/16" squares
4. T # 20 Med Cut four 2-5/16 " Squares- mark a diagonal line (corner to corner) on these squares.
Take the squares from steps 3 and 4 - place them right sides facing-stitch
a 1/4" seam on both sides of the marked line then cut in half between the stitched seams.
Now please don't think I've gone off my rocker on this-
trust me -- you will thank me later.
Outside Triangles
5. T # 20 Med Cut two 2-5/8" squares then cut in half diagonally. SET ASIDE
6. T # 20 Light Cut 4 2-5/8" squares then cut in half diagonally. SET ASIDE
These are the ouside triangles that when finished will give you the points
that won't be short after squaring up the finished block.
Take 4 triangles from step 5 and take 4 triangles from step 6
refer to the book on how these triangle should be pieced- they will be larger
than needed and will be trimmed AFTER the block is COMPLETED.
The remaining 4 triangles will be joined to the ends of 2 of the short strips.
When joining the triangles to the strip You will line up the right angle corner
so that it is flush with the strip. there will be excess babric on one side of the
strip. Do not trim anything at this point.
After the strips have been joined you will then join the corners to the block.
you will match the seams butting them up against each other. there will be
excess fabric on both sides- do not trim anything at this point.
You will now Press the block. See all the Points?? NOW you will trim to square
up the block and you should have a 1/4" seam allowance with beautiful points.

Honchey,
I am trying the rotary instructions for the first time. I've cut and I'm getting ready to start sewing but I just have to clarify. Step 3 says cut 2 5/16" and step 4 says cut 2 15/16" so when I'm laying to sew the squares are different sizes, right? I'm trying to just cut and trust the process but I just wanted to double check.
Thanks.
