As long as you are having fun, that's the most important part.

Bev glad to see you have your block patterns all ready, we just have to decide now

mirabelle sounds like something interrupted your line of thought there, stopping in mid sentence.

Bev, so happy you had a good time on the family time at the lake.

I had almost finished by Magic Blocks when I came to realize two sizes were done wrong; so I ditched the two wrong sized blocks...too much ripping on 65 4" squares, and 16 12" squares to make them right...working by the unit now, and have one out of 16 done right. One step forward and three steps backwards...

I kept seeing quilt block designs in the Rose Parade yesterday; it was so different and heart warming parade. Two floats honored the military men and women and defense dogs. In fact, Petco had a soldier in from the from lines on their float, which stopped at the beginning of the parade to pick up his wife and four year old child...whom they had flown in pretending she had won the trip to see the parade, and pulled her out of the crowd for a photo shot...the boy spotted his Father first, and that BIG smile hit his fact...the wife was in shock at seeing her dh...it had been a well kept secret..she and the four year old joined the dh on his bench on the float to enjoy the rest of the parade together. So heart warming...and the sealthe bomber flew over head in perfect timing . And on the Love Boat float, a couple got married, for real, with the minister 'milking' the scene in front of the HGTV booth...delaying the moment where the new husband could kiss his bride. Seen the Canada bands in the parade, and a first with a CA and Japan kids marching together in their respective uniforms in the same band...that was a first too. Maybe there is hope for world peace. Beautiful roses on several floats...Mirabelle your rose pillows are so beautiful..lovely work...now if I could do half as well, I'd save up for that machine.

GG, I have bee working on quilting since 1972, self taught with bad habits, and still learned so much from QB, with the FWQ and PC trail...and remember dg hand tied quilts and blankets that kept us warm in the cold winters back then...when January weather would run for two to three weeks below zero...and have lots of snow...were the snow banks bigger 'cause I was a child back in the dark ages?

I think we all have our "war" stories! Those are the ones that we learn from though ... and chances are we don't make those mistakes again. Well, sometimes I still do them ... and that's usually a sure sign that I'm too tired and should not be sewing. So, maybe it's more that I'm getting better to know when to walk away? I think that's why I usually have more than one project on the go ... one that's more intense, and one that's somewhat a no-brainer! OK, I confess, I have a LOT more too ... but they're usually sitting in the PhD Dept and not up front in the active WIP!!!

One thing that I am fussy about is starting with everything well cut ... and then making sure my seams are right. If one is a little over 1/4 and another under, well, you know what happens! I was convinced that PPing was NOT for me. I just couldn't get it. When I really wanted to do something with it, I did it ... and then from there on it was progress. Then I started to do PPing with the FWS, and the old practice practice practice soon had me converted. Now, I am finding I am a suck for it ........ or is that lazy? And yes, kind of a mindless thing for me, towards getting perfection in the blocks, and not having to be too much with it. Sure, I still goof up there too, but man-oh-man does it make it easy-peasy to get perfect points and square squares and to size blocks!

And yup, even while doing the BBs, I've had to rrrrrrrip away! Fabric on backwards ... and flipping the wrong way!! And guess what? Even with the simplistic pattern I chose, I still decided to do PPing, so that you'd have some nice blocks. Well, I hope you think so!!

Anael ... looks like in three years you've come a long way. From what we see, they are not marginal jobs, but exceptional jobs!

QNSue ... I kept the Rose Parade on for more than one round! There really wasn't much on TV til night time. Loved the music and glimpses of the flowers, colours and originality in those floats. Did you see our Canadian Cowgirls? I somehow must have missed the Canadian bands you mentioned. Where were they from? And yes, even I had tears pouring down when that Mom and Son met up with DH/Dad! The plane was amazing ... the first view of it looked like one of those giant kites in shape, and then it rolled, and OMG it was the real thing! It really was a great parade and I can;t wait to hear my neighbours talking about it.

JeanieG ... I'm like you, not a big crowd fan, so can totally see why you do not go. Like you, I'm sure that sitting at home we get a much better view and explanation via the TV. However, IRL the size, work, flowers, grandeur, etc. would be so overwhelming, I'm sure! Guess I don't have to think further on that, as I'm not too likely to be there anytime.

You're right QNS I was interrupted, the phone rang, my DS arrived unexpectedly and the oven timer went off all at the same time, so I threw my hands in the air and gave up trying to chat.

Sounds like the Rose Parade was worth watching, nothing like that out here...

I have just got home from grocery shopping, not a chore I enjoy, everything is put away and I am heading to the sewing room. It is nice and cool in there (guess who forgot to turn the aircon off last night) but don't tell anyone.

Ok, I got 3 units of Magic Square done right yesterday; baked four pies, 2 pumpkin, one apple from fresh apples, and one peach and two loaf pans of sweet potato cinnamon rolls. DH did up all the dirty pans and stuff this morning.

Mirabelle, the Rose Parade happens every year on New Years Day in Pasadena, CA., but I had never seen any like this one. I was very moved when the lady and son spotted the husband/father, and the airplane flew over honoring the floats based on honoring the military ladies and gentlemen who serve our country, and the ones who have died fighting for its freedom. Shed a few tears over that one. Miracle Grow was going to completely recycle their float after the parade, going green. Yes, I see the Canadian Cowgirls with the trio of maple leaves on their chaps, standing tall in their saddles...riding very close together which takes a lot of practice. No other group rode that close together in the parade. No, I do not remember where the band was from in Canada...sorry.

Have nine bonus blocks done; now if I can decide on which ones to send to Carrie...after I make a few more. PC blocks are in a plastic tub...slowly getting the slashing on them in odd moments. Back to that maybe today. Dh has an appointment in town...Unionville, which is a 22 mile round trip this afternoon, so will go with him and run to the grocery store, add a few more pennies to my gas card to receive additional pennies off per gallon at the gas station...can use up to $2.12 off on each fill up. LQS is next to the chiropractor dh goes too...isn't that wonderful!!

What a tragedy QNSue ... that DH has to go to the chiro .... and you must fill in time at the LQS!!!

My BBs are progressing along well too ... and like you, I am making extras and having to decide which ones I get to keep (yeaaaaa!!!) and which ones the rest of you get!!!!!!!!!! I'm really liking mine, and with them up on the design wall, they are giving me visions of a quilt!!!

I've seen the Canadian Cowgirls, though they'd be more aptly called Ontario Cowgirls!! That just doesn't have the same "ring" as CC, does it? All are from Ontario, though all over the province. So the girls and their horses travel a lot of miles for their practices. More for some than others, as practice is always at the same place, where their Leader/Coach is located. One of the girls lives not far from me, so every once in awhile she gets featured in the local paper. Hopefully, we'll see a write up after she's back home from this tour.

I still have to start with the BB! I know which block I"m going to do if I can find it again that is

Today my DS and DDIL had their check up at the local hospital. The twins are doing ok, but there's something with 'Doppler flow'?? They told them not to worry but they will have to have a check up every week now instead of every two weeks. About not to worry...... How can they say that and tell them to come more often?
