Anael--I can't wait to see your BBs.

The shed I am getting is set on cement blocks. For moving...it will be loaded on a trailer with skid-loaders. They might have to put it on something called "skids" (like runners on a sled). We will find that out next weekend...the skids help support the middle of the structure. Then my DH will pull it to our house and the skid-loaders will be here to set it on cement blocks. We are going to set it up higher than they had it so the wood doesn't rot in the dirt.

I will have to decide on floors, paint, etc, etc. My current clubhouse has purple walls...kind of dark colors but I have lots of windows so it didn't make the room too dark. What color is your sewing room? (asking everyone) Need new ideas this time. Having a big design wall will be easy as the 2 long walls don't have any windows. I am think we will put 1 or 2 in on the side facing the driveway and the other will get the design wall. What do you all use for a design wall? Right now I have a flannel backed tablecloth on a dowel so it can be rolled up when not in use.

Ok back to school...need to stop thinking about the new place.

I can't help you there Carrie! My living room is my sewing room No design wall. I use a wallhanging to pin my blocks on! My Batik Scrappy Road quilt is pinned on the curtains because I had to take some pictures and it's still hanging there LOL.

Carrie, my husband bought a 4 x 8 ft sheet of insulation board from Home Depot. I covered it with cheap white felt from Joann's. They have some felt that is really wide and I did not have to piece it. He used small washers and screws and screwed it into the wall. It works great and was real inexpensive. With that much wall space, you could cover the whole wall! I actually run out of room on mine - 4 ft is not enough (but better than nothing)!

Anael - your BOM from last year is looking great, I love the layout. I got behind on my blocks so the one's I finished are still in the drawer waiting!!! I'll probably use the QAYG method I used last year.

Here is what I have been working on. It is just stuck up on my display wall (crookedly at that)! It is very busy (too busy for me - wish I had used a solid color), but maybe it will grow on me! The piecing was easy, but the layout is a booger, it is so easy to get something turned the wrong way!

Carrie...my design wall is similar to Jeanie's except I used batting which I had on hand. It will be replaced eventually. I second what she said about size. Mine is 6x8 and it doesn't fit a queen size quilt and then there are times when you want to audition more than one project...!
Jeanie...your quilt looks good to me! I'll admit when I first saw it taking shape, I wasn't too pleased but after I did the layout....on the floor because my wall isn't big enough...I like the overall affect. To me it's just a fun, happy quilt. I haven't started sewing my blocks together yet since I do have other projects in line before it. Today I WILL finish my BBs! I have the Ocean Wave under control and have straightened up my sewing room and am ready to get afte some UFO's.
Mirabelle... I tried some FMQ today but I'm not quite ready to jump off into the deep end of the pool. I found some designs that I can used with a walking foot so that's where I'm going to start. Feathers will just have to wait.

Jeanie, I love your quilt. When I first saw it I thought WOW busy but it's a happy and bright quilt. If it doesn't grow on you you can send it to me

Jeanie, I like your quilt. Busy? yes but striking. Love the colors you chose.

I agree with Jeanie & Ggal, Carrie. Size matters LOL. I have a flannel sheet from Walmart on a curtain rod. It's folded to about 5 x 6 and it's really too small. I end up using painter's tape to tape additional blocks to another wall. Go big, Carrie-you won't be disappointed.

Anael, can't wait to see the blocks. I'm so excited--can't wait to see what everyone made.

Jeanie--very pretty quilt.

Thanks all for the design wall "input". I am thinking add 2 windows to one long wall and the other will stay window-less and be a design wall...not the whole 20 feet, but a good 10-12 ft.

My BBs are all sewn together...just need to remove the paper tonight while watching some tv. Tomorrow I need to make a sample for my spring retreat gifts and then work on sewing rows together for my Rosie quilt.

My 'design' wall is home made out of one by fours to fit in the hallway outside the quilting room. Its about seven foot high, that's the height of the ceiling to floor. It runs from the beginning of the hallway, to almost the quilt room door, therefore, I can get a large queen sized quilt on the board. It is framed with the one by fours, with hardboard fastened to the frame, with batting glued to the hard board...and cork glued around the edge, then flannel is used to cover over the batting and stapled down to the edges and back. Then its securely mounted on the wall. A double panel, put together with piano hinges and covered the same way, stands in my quilt room for smaller projects or a new block to try out for looks and color.

I planned the quilt room I sew in, but it was a try and error situation, and still is...dh said he was moving in at the last minute...and we shared for awhile, but finally after seven years, he moved his sewing machines into his room. Although its just over fourteen feet long and and about 13 feet wide, I feel I still do not use all the space effectively. For short cut, I used the pre-cut shelves, cabinets and storage corner units sold by home depot. And I still sew on an old typewriter stand, not a regular sewing machine stand. Fabric is stored on the bare shelf or in plastic tubs...or as projects in a tub. Color is all white, with vinyl square tile floor. One north window lets in some light, but we added inset lights and one hanging light with five bulbs over my sewing machine....purchased at home depot for $39...

So ... what does everyone else have for their home's "mascot"?
Please join JanRN, MiraB and I .... to show us!!!
JanRN ... Do you suppose the 3 we've met are being led astray afterhours by MiraB's backyard naughty fellow??

MiraB .... Yes indeed, a "cheeky" sort, he is. I think you'd better show us your backyard naughty boy! Not to worry, we'll remember it's MrMiraB's!!! Another lovely Snuggle. It's so soft and feminine looking. Can;t help but love it. Glad to see you are like the rest of us ... a little ADD affected! Will look forward to your D4P and Asian Scrappy next! Better you give DS eggs, than to take away from your sewing time! Wish we were all closer, and could have joint quilting lessons from you!!

Anael ... you know, you can change the stash problem!! Yea for you and BBs on their way. Now watch them arrive before the Canadian ones!! Great quilt ... once again, your trademark white background and the fresh colours. Love those kitties with the ♥s in them!

CarrieM ... Yippeeeee ... a new clubhouse!!!! How exciting!! My sewing room is kind of a pale but bright terra cotta. A peach? Oh I don't know what you;d call it. White wood trim with white hung ceiling. Design wall is about 7-1/2x12ft and made from tentest. I covered each panel of the tentest with black fleece only, no batting. Then we hung them on the wall, side by side, with screws. The black fleece has been grand ... holds everything!! I can still stick pins in if I want, such as when I want to pin up patterns with what I am working on or whatever. I've hung fully assembled quilts for long stretches and they've stayed put. And, you can never have your design wall large enough!! So don't skimp! Believe me ... I often have more than one project on the wall. Having a large one let me keep all the FWS/PC blocks as I did them as well as whatever else I was working on. And then, I still have some smaller 2x4 panels that are free standing that I use when the wall is full for things like when I was doing Fr♥sty!

Flooring is the cement floor painted. I do have two area rugs with stretches of the bare concrete. I didn''t want installed carpet, for fear of a flood. I know too many people who have had that problem, though they tell me it;d never happen here. Never say Never! We'll all look forward to your new and improved Clubhouse ... will their be a new name?

JeanieG ... is that the Easy Street pattern. Your colours work well together, though I can see why you are finding it a bit busy. Sometimes we just can't see those things, until we are well on the way. At least, I wish I could develop that early-vision!

QNSue .. now that's one serious design wall ... and the extras, are great too! Does MrQNSue have one too? Take advantage of MrQNSue's kitchen duty days ... and be sure to praise him highly, to keep him "wanting" to do it for you!!!

GGal & JanRN ... so ... ready for a design wall expansion?

Moi? ... It seemed to be a long day today. Appointments for business and eye appt for myself along with a lot of driving. Whipped by the time I got home tonight. Another day tmro and I will be refreshed! I got the mini finished last night that I was working on ... and then noticed that the flange had got flipped at one corner when stitching. So need to take the binding off at that corner fix it and put it all back together again. arrgghhh!!!! Had hoped to do that tonight, but knew that my brain and eyes were just not in the zone to do so.
