Here a some pictures of a quilt top I get to work on this spring. I was asked by one of my kids' archery coaches to finish it (it was made by a family member of his wife, he isn't sure who). There are red borders on just two sides. My plan is to tie it...I am open to suggestions though. The person I am finish it for just said "I know nothing about quilting so do it the way it should be done"...any help is appreciated as I have never tied a quilt, but sure I can figure it out.

Anael - so sorry to hear about Isa's problem! I hope Bram stays healthy and does not get Isa's condition too! I check this thread first thing when I log onto the computer to get the updates on the twins. Thank you so much for keeping us posted.

Wow, Carrie, that is an amazing quilt! I can see how difficult a job it would be to pick any type of quilting design, as you don't want to take away from the fabrics. I looks like it is done in square shapes, maybe you could SITD on those squares only????

Carrie...that quilt is beautiful! I'm sure that YouTube has videos for tying quilts. Depending on how much flannel Mirabelle is sending and how many $$$$s you get, maybe we could consider getting some flannel with a cute little boy print for Mick since he's being such a big help. He's living through a major crisis in his young life and it might encourage him.
Anael...sorry about the news of Isa but praying she will respond and strengthen. Also that you will feel better. This has to be so worrisome for you!

Well, it's done. I remember when we started this quilt that I was so excited to find fabric with ponies all over it. Well, this city gal found out they were donkeys. My friends still call this my "donkey quilt" (sorry, Laurie LOL). I have the donkey block front and center in the 3rd row. I also fussy cut donkeys for some of the cornerstones altho they're a little hard to see. Now I get to sit back in the virtual RV and munch on cinnamon buns and nag, I mean, encourage all of yinz to finish.

Anael, thanks for the update on the twins...big hugs from everyone in the virtual RV to you, your son and DIL.

Carrie, to tie a quilt is very easy to do....IF you can find a darning needle with a big eye and and pointed sharp end. I failed here to find one in any store, finally found my in a box of crochet thread where I last had it. Craft needles and doll needles do not work. You can use 6-strand embroidery floss or light weight yarn as the thread to 'tie' it. Use about 18" of thread at a time in your needle, enter on one side of the corner of the block and exit in the adjoining block, about an inch or inch and a quarter apart and double tie in a hard knot over the gap between entering and exiting of the yarn or floss. You can choose to make the enter/exit of yarn across the quilt, keeping the underneath smooth or until the needle runs out of yarn...then go back and clip between each to tie over the corners of the block. Quick and easy if you have the darning needle. I tried everything for two days in AIK's throw, got two rows done; but when I found the right needle, I finished in two hours or less. Did many a bed quilt on the bed with DGM in the old days...with heavy crochet thread. Did BIL's lilac quilt with heavy crochet thread last year. Good luck. Traditionally, the ties are about four to eight inches apart, depending on what is in the middle as batting, we often used old blankets in the good old days.

QNS, old blankets? Woolen ones? I saw some at Goodwill but they're asking insane prices for them. At least I think it's insane. Somewhere between $ 15 and $ 20 per blanket!

Love the PC quilt, JanRN. I think you are the First to post on our PC quilt!! You were ahead of my posting by about 30 seconds. My FWSQ is done in Des Moines and plans are to pick it up on the fourth of February, depending on the weather. Putting my blocks together on PC as soon as I finish the slashing work...working on weeks 18 to 30 currently. And want to use the BBs in my quilt 'cause it will stay at my house for awhile for me to enjoy it!!
