Special sale of DJ goes off at midnight; guess its independent of EQ7, so the $47.00 would be all anyone would need.

Microsoft up dates messed my computer up again, but dd came to my rescue one more time. Love that gal, hated to disturb her, she sooooo busy and is quite tired tonight, but fix it she did.

Love her newsletter and tips. Yep, its the right price, too, all free.

OH NO Not Dear Jane my daughter has the book and has made 4 blocks , and I was going to make Sylvia's Bridal Sampler, well I have 1 block made so that is a start isn't it. SO I am figuring if we do Dear Jane will I have to make Sylvia's at the same time. Oh my I have to get my self organised.

Thank you everyone for your words of encouragement, I will just have to nurse this shoulder along for a while, although I am not sure about the hand quilting. I made my DS a quilt once, Around the Twist it was called, took me 6 weeks to piece it and some bright spark had a great idea to hand quilt it, well it took them (not me cause I'm not that stupid) 3 years to quilt it and the name was very appropriate cause I nearly went around the twist

JeanieG you asked why so long to have surgery, well it is our overworked and overcrowded hospital systems, the surgeons are only allocated so many beds and time in operating theatres. Our hospitals are groaning under the pressures of now highly populated areas and hospitals not being upgraded to take the higher volume of patients.

My carpet cleaners are here and I have had to take everything out of my sewing room so tonight I get to put it all back together again, all nice and clean and tidy tomorrow might get some sewing done but not much as I am placing time limits on how long I sit at my machine...

Aren't DJ blocks even smaller than the Farmer's Wife ones, and very similar? Just curious! Guess I could google them. LOL

Yes they are smaller JeanieG, I think 4 inches, cause Sylvia's are 6 inches...I am interested in making one of the Quilting on the Square latest blocks as they are rectangles 12 x 14 I think. That would make a big change from the small blocks

I did order the DJ. I am in no hurry to start...still want to get some other quilts finished and haven't had a chance to decide what fabrics I will use. We have lots of Civil War fabrics at the shop where I work, so could easily find a variety for all those blocks. Another thought I had was doing something like D_D did with her PC quilt (shades of blue and cream)...I really liked the contrast on that. My book, etc will be here next week, can't wait to look at it.

Jeannie--If you get the CD, you can choose the size of blocks you want (from what I understood). So you could go bigger.

Karen--I am with you on trying a new size and even have some FQs I plan to use for the Q on the Sq blocks. I just need to figure out what I want to use for the corners and background. Did you see anywhere on the site how much fabric would be needed for the background? I am sure I can figure out the corners since it is the same amount for each block.

QE--forgot to say I don't applique (well I have tried very little "raw edge") so may be changing out those blocks or just not making them all! I am wondering what options there are on the CD for alternate blocks to the applique.

I expect delivery of my DJ Friday, so will have some answers then. No plans right now of immediately starting it, but might do a square or two. Have the Farmers Scraps and the other one to do plus all the UFOs I would love to finish. Also if I find a CD for Elm Creek Quilts, I will buy them...'cause...just 'cause....

Trying to finish July MB right now and have it acceptable to my eyes. Also being 'homemaker' today and doing duty that way...doing dishes (they never do themselves)...washing a load of clothes or two...doing some cooking and baking since its cooler today. Figure out how to celebrate the day and SMILE.

First thing is to enjoy QB PC postings...done!

I didn't get the DJ at this time. If we do that as a group, it could last us a l---o---n---g time. There are a lot of blocks. The Aiming for Accuracy that I'm doing now has all different size blocks. I've been using templates almost exclusively and this uses only rotary cutting which I'm going to make myself learn and have it look good. Different things to think about. The new Quilt on the Square is 14x16 which does appeal to me too. I'm saving the patterns. For those if you avoiding applique....there is always a time to learn a new skill. i seems to remember that some if you were the same ones that avoided PP and now use it a lot because you like it so well.

My DH got a new pickup in 2010 but one of his favorite pastimes is still going through car lots and kicking tires. No chance he will get another one so soon. He still has the one he got about 15 years ago and doesn't drive enough to keep them broke in. The heat broke and sleeping was good last night. Nice that it isn't so humid today. Everyone have a good one!

QE twisted my arm, too, so I ordered Dear Jane. I'm not planning on doing it soon, too similar to FWS & PC. I'm ready for a new challenge so DJ will be put aside. I agree with Mirab and GGal, I like the new blocks and the Compass Star blocks on Quilting on the Square and would like to do one of those BOMs. I think DJ is beautiful and a classic; don't know if I could get it done in less than 20 years time LOL.
