QuiltE - the fabric is ETJ-11408-84 Cream on the second page of that link you gave above. I remember embroidering those days of the week tea towels too QuiltE. I used them for years - those old flower sacks lasted forever!

What a cute quilt JanieW, reminds me of my childhood when my grandmother would always wash on Saturdays yes Church on Sunday and bake on Mondays, so many memories woven into that quilt. Thank you

Site comes from facebook Michele Foster's latest hint in A4A. I also watched a video presented by Patrick Loser (picked up on the site from a hint on QB) on binding tips and used it on my Pansy Passion throw...it worked!! He sews down until he hits that seam allowance line point before turning the corner....then he sews directly down to the point on a 45 degree angle. Then starts the next side's seam on the seam allowance again, until he hits the next corner, again pivots the piece with needle down, sews to the corner from the seam allowance point...making the 45 degree couple or three stitches to the corner. He carefully unfolds that corner and trims that extra little angle 'ear', taking out the 'heavy' feeling in the corner. (The latter I am still figuring out)

Janie, what a priceless piece of memories! Well done. Still have some embroidery work with the days of the week and tasks for each day. Aunt Martha patterns featured many of them. And the way you set them together is priceless in a look-like flour sack fabric.

Maybe I will start the A4A today. Peaches are too green to work up. Or I can (sigh) do house work and clean up my quilting stuff that has spilled over into the living room. Doing laundry. Isn't that what it says on the old fashioned towels????? Thank goodness for modern way of pushing buttons. Celebrate the day!! Its cool here.

thanks for all the kind words about my "chores" wall hanging. It measures about 37 x 28. Each section is done separately and the backing is brought around to make the narrow border. It was so fun to do as I love the hand work the best. The edges are raw so that wouldn't work in a real quilt, I don't think.

If anyone would like the pattern I am happy to share it now that I am finally finished with it.

I am going to work on my August block and then I have to make some drawstring bags for my 3 grandkids . I am slowly , slowly, getting my second Pony Club flimsy put together.

Ggal, my qayg project is using up a bunch of orphan blocks that have been haunting me. I decided to try the method where you just quilt the block and the batting, then sew them together then sitd between the rows onto a backing. I have never done that method, am really liking it so far . It's a great way to practise that FMQ that I am determined to master. The only downside is that the bobbin area/feed dogs get super fluffy really quickly, because there is no barrier from the batting. I am really enjoying doing it and those poor blocks will make a very unique utility quilt come January when it's -30.

JeanieG ... a perfect fabric ... almost plain, with just a little action in it! How long will it take before you have it and can get back in the saddle? My tea towels were not flour sacks,but yardage my Mom bought and hemmed up. Far nicer towels than any of the store bought tea towels, size and fabric.

More Memories Anyone? ... Another set we did were sayings ... Sly as a Fox, Quiet as a Mouse, Quick as a Rabbit, and I forget what else.

And all this talk about the days of the week and their tasks, reminds me of the Menn/Amish community nearby. They still have their task days. Monday is laundry. Wednesday is market. Sunday church and visiting. And I forget what the hobs are for the other days!

QNSue ... interesting .. I think I get what you are saying, and will only know, once I try it IRL. I have some mug rugs waiting for binding, and this will be a good way to give 'er a try!

Anael ... Oh oh ... camera problems are not good. I've been having some too. For some reason, why I download the pics, they are not staying on the camera. Yet, I am doing nothing different than before. I like to keep some on there, to show to others at times.

JanieW ... I smile each time I look back at your Chores Quilt. Hopefully you are putting it somewhere prominent so you can enjoy it too. You're getting lots of sewing done these days. I've been doing practice blocks too, but just squares cut and sandwiched, then will do QAYG to join them with sashings. I do have some orphans that I should dig out and use in the same way too. Thanks for the reminder!

Fluff Cleaning ... as JanieW reminded us, our machines do get filled up fast! Has anyone found a little vacuum with good suction to clean it out? I have an assortment of brushes that I have been using, though sometimes I feel like I am just pushing it around, and not always getting it out.

Also for machine cleaning, I recently bought some alcohol swabs for extra cleaning in some areas. Plus they help with the sticky needle syndrome when you get 505 build up on a needle!

Janie, I have learned that if you use cheese cloth under the batting, it flows easier and no built up of the fluffy stuff.

QuiltE, after you sew the two or three stitches to the edge, you still fold the binding back and start the new edge to dissect that point of seam allowance on the new side. Clear as mud?? I think that if you search for Patrick Loser on u-tube you can find the video that would help.

I printed out all the paper piecing paper patterns from Quilting on the Square: Spike your English that is available...and checked the site for the August block, but it is not there yet. So my pp patterns are ready to use...now if I do not lose them...LOL!!

QuiltE, I have 2 more Thursday Friday & Saturday"s to work...then I'm done until October...My co-worker wants to visit her sister in NC again....The little Singer 237 moves ok it just has a hard spot when turning...I will clean her all up and oil & work the hard spot into oblivion...it should run smoothly after all that...it's gear driven so no belts underneath to worry about...I have quite a few of the old Singer's... and a couple of others...I get them working again..there's only 2 that need electrical rewiring..I'm not too sure I can tackle that kind of work...I found a green Singer 185 in the annual trash pick-up...it cleaned up real nice & it also sews beautiful....My BIL made a wooden base for it....I don't like to use kerosene to clean them up with...I just use sewing machine oil & elbow grease....
My Cp has been giving me problems again...i think it's going to be time for a new one real soon....I can't send photos on a regular basis... the Windows software is shutting down all the time...
Janie, Have you thought about pressing a fusible tricot interfacing on the batting...it is paper thin and won't add any bulk to the square...
I'm going to take a nap...I was up half the nite with DH....so far all is good..will know for sure next week.... Later guys...

You who know Quilt in the Square, how does the "Kansas Compass Collection Block 6 Diamond in the rought" makes a 12 inch square fit into what collection???? That is the only pattern in that series that I have, and I know not why I have it.

I have all four blocks for Spike your English, printed off on pp ready to tackle... and all twelve compass points printed off, ready to pp whenever it gets started. Had a few moments of panic when I failed to find my latest packet of Papers for foundation piecing, but found enough to recycle and get by this time.

Honchey, your dh can be happy the procedure is over. May his news be good ones from the doctors. Lost both of my parents to Colon Cancer, Dad was only 43 years old. So I tell our children who are all over 35 years old, get your colon screening every year, or every five years if that is what your doctor recommends. And I have my screenings up to date now, too. That is not to say I am free of cancer in my body, and my lung still worries me a bit, but so far,so good. The big C word is scary.
