Good night QuiltE

Honchey, such beautiful blocks! QNS did an excellent job on those blocks!

Bram is in surgery right now, they expect to be finished in about an hour. Fingers crossed ! ! !

NinaSue is Diamond in the Rough block the one I sent you, I seem to remember you asking for one that you did not have to complete the entire Compass collection. Just wondering, its late here and I am off to bed. Good night everyone

OK, I've seen some gorgeous quilts using ties. They're quite expensive here, even in the thrift stores so I don't buy them.

Bram is out of surgery, all went well He has to stay and if all is ok tomorrow he can go home. So as far as we know this was the last 'repair job' on the twins All they have to do now is grow and grow!

Good morning, all. I finally have a day off work so made a cup of tea to sit with yinz and TRY to catch up. Sorry for the MIA but we work 10 hour days, 8-6, stand all day (except to pee) and by time I get home I'm too tired to do much but read the posts. I think I'm too old to work this many hours--my right knee is reminding me. It was fun though and the thought of future FARTs kept me motivated LOL.

I won't comment on all the posts--you ladies are so awesome in all you accomplish and I love reading about the kids, DGKs, gardens, and various projects you're all involved with. Are you sure you only have 24 hours in your days? I love all the quilts and the beautiful MBs. You've outdone yourselves with these blocks.

Poor Patches has been very sick, not sure how much longer we're going to have him around. It was a year ago that he had surgery on his sinuses and he did fairly well but the breathing problems have gotten worse. It's much cooler here now so I hope that helps; the high heat and humidity last week really bothered him. We'll see; he's such a love and I don't know what I'll do without him.

Great news about Bram, Anael. Will still keep praying.

Now to get caught up on all the household chores I've let slide. Well, maybe after I sew for awhile. Have a great day.

the problem is with the Compass blocks.
Is it part of a set? Are the other patterns available? I have only the one and wonder if I can complete the set some how or toss the single pattern. Sounds like you have your ds back on the wellness trail.

Thank you all for the kind words. I cannot hand sew, for my hands hurt too much 'cause of age, I guess, and 'cause that 'Artheritlis" comes to visit too often with enlarged joints..no, I never 'crackled' my joints in my hands. I am lucky when I can pick up a needle and thread it....not easy on bad days.

Peaches are ready to do today; too green yesterday. Not the quality that I bought the first time around, so disappointing, but will can it anyway. Will not do that again. They are missing flavor, maybe picked too green for shipping.

Everyone have a good day! May your camera work right again, Anael.

I have seen some lovely tie quilts...had a book on it at one time. I love the circle of ties out from the center and each corner...similar to the Dresden pattern using the larger ends to make the circle.

OK--thanks for posting the pictures of the tie quilts. It reminded me that my G'ma asked me if I would be interested in making some wall quilts for kids and grandkids from G'pa's ties. (She asked me at the anniversary picnic a few weeks back.) I will be giving her a call today to see if I can pick them up on Thursday.

QNS--if you come across the "tie quilt" book in your rearranging, please let me know the title. I will be looking online too...just haven't started yet. Sorry to hear about the peaches.

Karen--glad your DS got a good report.

Anael--thankful that Bram came through surgery and all went well. Praying he can be back home tomorrow!

Jan-have a nice day off get lots of sewing done. Sad for Patches...hope you are able to keep him comfortable.

OK, I have always wanted to do something with men's ties...I am drawn to the silk type..not the other textures...Whenever DH discarded a tie I always retrieved it...I have a bagful of them now..started to take them apart..would you line them with a stabilizer first???

I never expected my MB blocks to be appliqued...then when they arrived being done that way...I was so totally surprised, pleased and felt so special...you girls are amazing!!!

Anael, so happy Bram is on the mend...

QuiltE, At work I've been cutting up some jelly rolls into half hex's for a braid patterned quilt I might do as a class project...these rolls were on sale and very frayed so I trimmed them down to 2-3/8"... I get interrupted alot by the Joann customers so I don't do anything really intricate when I'm working by myself...I might work on next month's MB...I still haven't figured out the fabric placement yet...

Jan, As sad as it will be...Patches will let you know when it's time...

Watch out shops...Anne & Jan are on the move making $$$$$ for FARTS

I have to get off now and do something else other than on the cp...later girls...

The story on the mens tie quilt...I googled men's tie quilts. and found Daddy's Ties by Shirley Botsford for sale on www.Amazon.com and www.ebookmall.com the latter price is 12.95. www.about.com Huntsville, AL, was the next hit, that tells about Making a quilt using Men's ties....silk ties...in photos in various projects as well. Might be a starting place.
Good luck.
