Carrie, that is awesome. I love the dark red background and I think the blue/green really makes the blocks stand out. Great job. I'm so jealous that you got your project completed and all I got to do was pout about my S-16 LOL. That is a striking combination of colors.

Carriem that deserves :thum bup: a whole bunch of high fives. Well done, I also love that pale green it just makes the blocks pop..

I have just finished piecing my first Spike block and I love it, now back to the quilting (I took a detour today)

QNS, your Irish Mist will be stunning! I love those colours!

Carrie, that is gorgeous, I love the red background and the pale sashing. No advice on the borders though.

Thanks for the nice comments on my PC quilt. I showed DH and he said "Who's that one for?" (I give most of my quilts away)...when I said it was for us he said "Good, I like this one."

Jan--are you making progress on piecing any other UFOs since you can't quilt right now? Did they give you a timeline on your S16 repairs?

Karen--I am trying to keep the box closed with the SYE fabric/papers as it would be very easy to keep working ahead on those. The block I made was a lot of fun and went together quickly. BTW I too measure each section like you mentioned on the other thread. Makes my life a lot easier!

I am going to get back to quilting the airplane quilt this afternoon. Still can't quilt too much in one sitting so will probably pull out another UFO to work on piecing in between. Or might get ahead on some MBs. Not sure yet.

Carrie, saw on the 50 Fab Stars thread that you're going to start in January. Yay--you can bring up the rear with Anael & I. Be warned--these blocks are very addictive. I love how easy they go together. Hardest part is getting the colors how I want them. I've been working on these stars since the S16 is dead. I take it tomorrow so hope I'll know then how long they'll have it.

Got the thumbs up from Anael on the MB so went to the post office this am.

Hi All ... back for a bit, so am checking in!

Set up went well .... some hitches, when we got there to discover some layout and backdrop changes we did not know about in advance. Nothing insurmountable ... just took a little more time and some creative thinking to overcome. Quite pleased with how both displays came together ... and amazingly, we got the set up done in a little better time, than some years. Exceptional weather, has brought on the crowds to higher than norm for opening weekend.

Yes ... we used ALL the quilts I took!!
The 3 Out to Pastures ... the 2 Dairy Goodness' from last year ... the Spiker oversized hexie (same fabric as one DG). Have a few pics, but have not looked at them yet ... and when I do, will try to post them here for you.

Anael ... what a good looking three-some! And then a cute 3-some of bunnies!

JanRN ... for you and your S16 ... let's hope that they can get her back purrrrrring while you are doing a little FART while waiting, and then you can come home with enthusiasm to get at it! Maybe you can play on their store demo machine to test out how to use the rulers? I was impressed with them and saw how smooth edges you could get while doing straight line and curves as well. Thank goodness there is another "hack and whacker" (see Spike thread for the rest of the story!)

JeanieG ...... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!! cupboards!!!!!!!!! Are you starting to load them up? Or waiting for the countertops to be installed? Soon, it'll all be done and over! Great job on your BB hanging! great idea to include some pony fabrics as a reminder of how the background story to the BBs!!

QNSue ... sorry for your humpty dumpty!! Please do not self-diagnose, and go to the Dr. or at the least, take heed from your PC Doctors. You need to get your knee better, to stay mobile, for the long term. What a nice start on your Irish Mist. I'm so happy for you that they are getting you in for the cataract surgery so soon. Just remember that you MUST do EVERYTHING the Doctors tell you from now until after surgery, to have the best results. PLEASE ... no shortcuts, or I think I will do this approach to things ... they really do know what is best. PLEASE?

I had bilateral cataracts and was blind for four months (with an obvious, no driving allowed). Caused, as a side effect to the treatment of my other eye issues, and it all progressed, quickly within 1-1/2yrs to the full blown cataracts. The implants were done 12 yrs ago, 3 wks apart. I still praise those two specialists, for giving me my eyesight back, and will jump thru any hoops they want me to, to keep it there ... meaning appointments about every 6 wks for ongoing monitoring/management. One time post-surgery, I commented to the one that I had great confidence in him (though I was honestly scared stiff, particularly for the first surgery) ... he said, "I didn't have confidence your eyes would let me." And then I went OMG, all those disclaimers were not CYA, but he was outright SERIOUS. I still do the OMG wonderment, many times over.

MiraB ... beautiful eye candy with your new fabrics and a Sweet Raggedy Ann/Andy! Oh how I wish I only wne tot he eye Dr. yearly .... about every 6 wks!

Honchey ... laughing here! So you'll let Anael choose, and let her be blamed!!!

DDamsel ... are you lonely for your little ones? I'm like you ... am terrible at reading patterns, and too often, just look at the pics to figure it out.

DublB ... inch by inch, and the move will get done. Good that you are allowing some sewing breaks ... and have a retreat planned. A nice reward for the moving work?

CarrieM ... your PC is going to be great!! Any more work on your "heritage" quilt?

GGal ... a tough few days for you, though I am ever-so-glad that you will be with your DD, and not going solo on this. Maybe it's good that your son's quilt did not get done in time ... so it is not tied to him receiving it with his father's death? Better it be during happier times, and linked with yourself.

JanieW and OKSGlad ... oh I do like that block! And what a great grouping this is building. (though, me-thinks those cows are on a bit of a tilt!

JeanieG and MiraB ... ooooooooh, so pretty!

And now back to reality ... I treated myself to the QB, before I started into my "work" .... laundry, empty truck, start the re-fill items. And try to figure out some new and creative picnic basket takes!

If I can swing it .... maybe some sewing? a September MB takes priority .... though I might get some hexies cut out, for some take-with work, as there just might be some fill-in opportunities!

Til Later ............
