I have been thinking a lot about the various projects for next year and nervous about DJ; have the disk and book but still very unsure about it, feel a little lost. Anyone else feel like this or it is just me? Looks like a lot to tackle.

Must put in the 50 stars disk and try it also and see what it is going to be like.

New refrigerator is working so nicely; keeping everything so cool, amazing. It has LED lights in it, ice and water available on the outside of it. Now I can drink cold water and enjoy it. Slow repairman made it back to 'fix' the old one Friday evening, late, and found out he had the wrong part that would not fit where it should. Then he seen the new one and he was not a happy camper. As I told his wife, we had to do something to have dependable refrigeration. So the old one is still not fixed eight days later...and the soap opera continues. Made Sweet Potato Biscuits yesterday and they were not too bad for the first time that I made them.

Anael, hope you are feeling better today. Thinking of you.

DublB ... just thinking ... what about using tissue paper? That's what was recommended to me at the sewing machine dealer as a basic tear away stabilizer. Instead of soluble there is a tear away that can be purchased as well.

QNSue ... good to see you are following the Dr's instructions.

GrannyQ ... you definitely are in my thoughts and prayers!! I hope you have some family and friends that are near for support to both you and your husband. And that your Dr. is keeping a good eye on you. So much for you to deal with right now. {{{HUGS}}}

Dreary, rainy, miserable day ... though warm'ish at 12C now, and high of 16 expected. I was on the road pretty much all day yesterday and by the time I got home, just nestled in, ate supper, read the paper and watched a bit of TV. So for today, I just can't think of anything better to do, than to sit and sew!!!

Hope everyone has a good day of doing things that each of you WANT to do!

QE- I too thought tissue paper would be a grand idea & woa one o' my first experiments & it won't hold up long enough ta git the blocks done. I experiment on.

Everybody - I have a report about my experiment & then a question or poll. First don't I repeat don't use Tear & Wash for the grid method. I had ta swab the needle every inch & a half. Boy that took a long time! Then it took me 2 hours ta tear that stuff off. I may stop experimentin' & just go w/Aqua Mesh if I want a water soluble grid. Second I realized, when I was through, that I had misplaced 1 HST. I was sick! The center design was all wrong. Then as I got up ta git a drink I looked at it turned on point & it had a religious design! So here is my question; Would an on point block mess up your plan for your MB's & are ya religious. I wouldn't want ta up-set some one who didn't want a religious block. I'll ask all o' ya'll & hopefully my November partner will chime in & I'll know whether ta send it ta her or make myself a wall hangin' & make her another block.

DublB ... if you are having hesitations, I think you would be better to set the block aside and keep it for something for yourself.

A hint to check your placement in the future... do a photo before it's too late.
Then look at it in the camera display, or upload it to your computer screen and minimize it.
Our eyes tend to see the flaws/misplacements when it is down to a smaller size.

Prayers and good vibes being sent to all of you who are having health issues--Anne, Anael, Carrie, and Mr & MrsGrannyQ and any one else not doing well.

QNS, like you, I've looked at the DJ software and book a couple of times. I'm kind of intimidated by it--not sure I can navigate it easily, too many steps to get from one part to another. But I'm determined to master it!!! I'm not going to commit to doing a certain number of blocks per week or month but will work at my own pace (which may be "none") during times I don't have other things promised. I am going to finish the 50 Stars, I have 12 or 15 done. That CD is so simple to print the patterns from and her patterns fit well together. I just have trouble with her color descriptions: can't tell light from medium from dark in the pics. But I just figure out my own colors anyway.

Look at this awesome MB I got from QuiltE!! She added my favorite color and kept her theme of "Friendship" with the Friendship Stars. I love it--thank you, QuiltE.

GrannyQ, So sorry to hear about DH not doing well...Hope you're not overdoing anything to keep yourself from staying strong..
Anael, hope you're doing okay too!...

Dublb, I don't have a problem with the religious aspect in a block...

I have a fairly new neighbor that I approached about the internet and as you can see I'm online..She won't accept anything but If I slip an envelope with some $$ in it under her door when she's not home..I'm hoping she will accept it...

Our Village Stitchers group is making a quilt for an event in March or April and I'm making 2 blocks for it..will post a photo later...The event is called "Relay for Life"....several of the women in the Village are running in this event and the quilt is to be a fund raiser for Cancer Research...

DH and I joined the local library and I found a quiltin book that has a pretty Christmas wall haning in it..the patterns are in a folded paper that is attached to the book...can I remove the pattern paper and then tape it back after using it??? How else would I be able to use the patterns???

As far as using tissue paper for stabilizer....no, no, no, it's way too thin and it tears too easy...the tissue paper inches up underneath and causes the fabric to wrinkle...I know 'cause it happened to me..I even tried telephone pages without much luck..that's not to say it won't work for anyone else..it's just my experience I'm talking about...an added thought..using a walking foot might help with tissue paper.

QNS...I was just talking to DH about new projects with our group and he makes fun of me...asking me if Dear Jane was like a "Dear John"!!!!

I have to finish the second block and do some final touches on my MB for _ _ _ _ _ ... see you all later today...

Praying for GrannyQ, GQ DH and Aneal today.

QNS--I too have been thinking about the DJ and 50 Stars quilts...if I end up having surgery in December it will be a while before I can start on either. I have figured out the EQ DJ cd and have printed several of the pp'ing patterns...it took a little doing, but once I got it, it was pretty easy. I worked through the lessons in the book that came with the cd and it was a big help. For the 50 Stars I am thinking about getting the Foundation Factory download so I can print them at 10" instead of 12".

Dublb--sorry I can't be any help with the stabilizer. I wouldn't mind religious designs.

Jan and QE--that's a very nice block. Can we see them all together??

I spent a little time in the clubhouse yesterday...might get out there a bit before archery practice this afternoon.

I have been checking in now and again to keep up with everyone's goings on. Hope you felt me in the group hugs.
Another one goes out to Carrie, GrannyQ and family, Anael, Honchey, and DD. Isn't it amazing how we can communicate across the world and reach out to those who are in need of support and comfort? And waiting in the wings is QNS as she contemplates the beauty of patience.

Jan-QE perfect block to share!

Honchey what colors are you using in the Relay for Life quilt? So nice of you to share your talents in this group effort.
In regards to the pattern in the library book-take out the patterns. When you are finished, glue a small manilla sized envelope marked with "Pattern pieces" in the back so pattern pieces can be used by the next library patron and stay with the book in an orderly fashion. Library books are to be used. The library staff won't know the difference will they?

"Sigh" mirabelle. So pretty.

GGal your synopsis of the postings have been great! I nodded my head in agreement until the "do it with grace" comment as I missed the last stair step and spilled my hot chocolate all over the floor last night. It sounds like you've been really busy getting fall yard work finished as well as a dwindling WIP/UFO pile

dudlb-great suggestion regarding unpacking from QE! No suggestions for your stabllizer dilemma.

Jeanie your kitchen looks fantastic! What a treat to come back to after your great getaway.

Water, water everywhere. Glad you heard the water before it flooded everything, Jan.

Day 3 of Jury Duty starts on Monday and think we should wrap things up after lunch. My hexi project was a great thing to take along. Met a couple of new quilters while waiting for judge on the first day. Such a great conversation starter. The weather here has been great for November and wished I could be like GGal and spend a couple of days outside. Now it's rainy and cooler. Before the day is over I have bills to pay. Yesterday had 4 of the kiddos here while "mom" and DGS went to a BB tournament. Boys felt pretty good as it was their first outing and got to the championship round, but lost that game. A really bright spot yesterday when mailman delivered a door prize from the Art tour--a beautiful hand knit, homespun wool scarf. Oh sooo soft--perfect to wear under my coat this winter! (My non art sister, BIL, and I went to a couple of the art tour sites.)

So off to get ready for another work day here and a civic duty day tomorrow. Have the Jelly roll bag up and waiting to watch. Thanks!

My friend who used to run a quilt shop uses paper towels under the cloth to embroidery and stabilize the cloth. Don;t know if that will work or not for you , Dublb.

Honchey, talk with the librarian about the issue of copying your pattern; they should be able to help you out there and get the pattern. I have helped many people in my 37 years in the library. And have been helped by the library staff here on coping off patterns.

I looked at the 50 stars CD, and it talked about the 'why' of design and color; did not see any patterns to copy, but interested, Carrie, in how you plan to 'size' yours up to 10 inches...would love to 'copy' your idea (even if I need to purchase something, and do likewise if that is alright with you. DJs CD also talks about the quilt and process and its hard to find any pattern on that CD. I think I will depend upon Quilting on the Square BOM monthly to give me the pattern and ideas on how they proceed with it each month for 2 years...hoping I can adjust the size there. 'cause both of them scare me a bit. Like I am in over my head feeling.

My printer is not printing the patterns true to size from Quilterscache.com or anyone else's pattern. It used too. Downloaded Chrome, and it did not work either, so I am back on Fox Fire. Cannot see anywhere that the settings are wrong on the printer info. Page Preview I have to 'tone' back to 60% to print from QB, then back it off to 100%. If I set it forward to 150%, then some patterns fit to the inch. Still working on that problem.
