My last MB will be late getting to the mail! Snow does that here, besides, it ain't made yet. Sorry.

Made another TW block today. Love doing that quilt. Always ask a busy person to do you a favor; they do it somehow, even though they are busy folks! And they more. Love, Love, Love that sheep and would love the pattern! Baa, Baa, Sheep have you any wool?

Citing nursery rhymes from long, long ago...am I returning to my childhood??? Or maybe I never left it!

I was under the impression that farmers here had to file a tax return every three months or so of earnings and expected taxes to pay...maybe Iowa does not do what Missouri does, OKsewGlad? I never even set up an appointment with our accountant before March, because he does all the farmers first here.

Yes, I think Dear Jane is going back into the plastic tub....for quite a while...its below the Irish Mist on the UFO list now. I will collection and file incoming monthly shipments into that tub. I have the 50 Fab Stars, the SYEs to finish, and Sylvia to work on, plus the MB for this month. So even with snow days inside, I have more than enough to do this month. And the TW is a joy to work on with my quilting buddy...who works so fast, I can hardly keep up! Must be related to Mirabelle and that Bunny that just keeps going....and going.....and going.

And wondering what tomorrow will bring....sunshine or snow....colder or warmer...time will tell us. Have a good one where you are.

QNS--If we want we can pay estimated taxes every three months and then have until April 15th to file the taxes same as general public. Because we choose not to, we are required to file by Feb 28th and pay all taxes due which includes both halves of Social Security and Medicare as we are "self employed". Farm income fluctuates drastically from year to year due to the vagaries of weather and market prices. Remember we sell wholesale and buy retail--the scourge of all farmers. It's just as easy to get it done early as we have to have records done to send 1099's to anyone we hire or pay rent to and W-2's also have to be sent out by Jan 31st. Now you know why you don't set up your appt until March!
It is a common practice for a yearly review at the bank which is usually done after taxes. Next step for me is to figure internal costs of production (milk and corn as they are our major "crops"). I also do a projected cash flow for the year and net worth statement with financial ratios. This information all goes along with us to our yearly "confessional" in the next 3-4 weeks. So Bob C is still on the payroll. Just have a little break before I get back at these computations. By the time I'm done with all this I am happy to just do the bi-monthly work for the rest of the year.

Wow, no wonder you speak of Bob C., and the time all of that must take. So different from the 'old' days without all that reporting, etc., estimating everything. You must be a CPA, or at least, earned it by now. I guess DH parents did us a big favor by not supporting us or any of his siblings to get into farming....but to make our life take a different path. I had the fun and childhood memories from our small acres, freedom to roam, ride ponies, raise calves, lambs, pigs, chickens, cats and dogs and enjoying DGM good country meals. Guess that might just show my age now...

And you make the most beautiful mini quilts and have time for DGC and quilting...while wearing your many different hats. My hat is off to you, for your knowledge and ability to handle everything so well.

Time to start a new day. May all of you feel blessed today.

OK--I am so glad I don't have the taxes to prepare that you do. Just get a couple w-2s and a couple things from the bank. I've done our taxes since we got married. It was a little more work when I was doing the home businesses, but now it takes no time at all. I e-filed before they were actually accepting and we got our refund yesterday! We didn't have any plans for it until I spilled chai tea on my laptop last week. Now my new laptop is on it's way...going with an Apple this time, so there will be a learning curve I am sure.

Thanks to all for your well wishes. I am doing better all the time. I actually did some sewing yesterday...got a round on a medallion quilt I am working on. http://www.quiltingboard.com/blocks-...236801-86.html (post 860)I didn't have to do a lot of cutting (had most of that done already) so that helped. I know that vacuuming is not a good idea yet.

Dublb--praying you keep feeling better. Sorry you had to miss your trip.

Carrie, bit by bit you will get back to sewing. In the meantime enjoy using your new laptop. My DMIL had rheumatoid arthritis and one of the hardest things for her was to vacuum or sweep. Janie, my DIL gave me a little sign--I understand the concept of cooking and cleaning, just not how it pertains to me--boy does she know me. I know how hard it is for me when other commitments don't allow me to sew. As you can imagine I'm sew happy for a few days! Slipping over to see your medallion.
QNS, in another life I did prepare taxes so have a little experience in that field. Talk about raising one's BP! You are on deadline everyday from Jan 15th to April 15th. I also do my brother's, but it's a snap, especially with e file.
Now to get something done for the day. It's snowing.

Been to my hometown and back again; of course, dh had to take the short cut through to 136 but he was driving the 4 x 4 so we made it without going in a ditch. Didn't take long to put away the few grocery items so maybe I can get to my favorite place: in front of my sewing machine....

Dh does all the vacuuming and mopping for a number of years since it hurts me so much to do it. He has been doing the dish cleaning and washing since last September; I cook and try to put things away. Dh forgot to shut off the little toaster oven with his two eggs in a small iron skillet before we left, and I smelled the hot grease the moment I entered the garage...he tracked through the kitchen with shoes carrying snow inside and shut it off. He's grumpy because his system is so backed, we have tried everything on the market and he still cannot go like he should. Sigh. Life is always posing a problem one way or another it seems.

No, I have not gone AWOL ... instead WORKing, watching the Olympics and getting some sewing done.

Today, my plan was to sew all day ... So much for that plan, as I ended up having to do a conference call this afternoon, which meant I had to WORK this morning to prep for it. Now that was a challenge ...... keeping up with the call, making my notes while keeping an eye on the Olympic coverage!!

Last night I got started at quilting the heart wall hanging in my Booster Club goals. Also have patched together the other hearts for the start of another top.
One BC February goal completed .........

My final MB was entrusted to the sled dogs at the post office yesterday. Hopefully it can find its way to its new home quickly!!

Thank you Everyone, for the MB Swap. It has been a really good experience for me, as several times it challenged me to step outside my comfort zone and default options in order to meet each person's specs. At least I hope I did! And a bonus, to receive all your lovely MBs too!

Looks like most of us are still dealing with the "old fashioned winter" and all that it dishes out! On the upside, we are well on the way to spring, and the days are getting longer!

Honchey ... maybe they will do a full demo at your home and your bushes will be all clipped!

GGal ... redo redone!! Hard to know how to change things, isn't it? It takes me a long time, as I only want to do it once! A "delightful" start for your new quilt!

QNS ... turn the heat up a little so cold does not settle into your shoulder. This is new, isn't it? Better get to the Dr. and not delaying the proper attention.

JeanieG ... great group of blocks!! Do you know their destiny?

MiraB ... Amazing Darkness ... and certainly not dark! Beautiful!!! I can;t want to see it all done ..... yes, I know I HAVE to wait! Work faster and quit the seamstress work!

JanieW ... Sweet sheep, but I think they are doing the Texas Two Step, and not a waltz! Your TW fabrics really play well together and give such a fresh, cool and soft look to them. (not that we need more coolness these days!).

DDamsel .... yeaaaaaaaaa for more fabric!

DublB ... take care and good luck, as you get the results.

OKSGlad ... I like the way you celebrated BobC's temporary layoff!!! Can't wait til we see what you plan for his later departure!!!!!!!!!!! Wish we had these stuff a bag LQS sales! I sure miss the farm, though I don't miss the year end accounting. Honestly, I kind of miss the regular part of it, but that year end confessional and tax tally ... arrgghhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!

CarrieM ... so good to see that you are feeling progress and up to a bit of sewing. Great combos in your Border project.

So much going on..
Bev I hope you are feeling better and the results are kind to you and easily remedied, thinking of you..

GGal thank you for the link to Barbara Brackman, I did look at her book but thought it was very close to FWS so didn't buy it. I love the history and have saved her blog so I can continue to read it.

DDamsel, more fabric --- what a great idea, a girl can't have too much

JanieW such cute sheep and I love your TW blocks

QNS I am sorry that Jane is being a pain for you, I have found with the few I have made that s-l-o-w is better, you just can't rush these little critters. You will feel like getting back to it as I am sure you will not let it get the better of you. Good luck

Oksewglad thanks for the giggle

Carriem I am hoping that your shoulder continues to improve and you can get back to your sewing, take care

QuiltE I checked out your Snowflake, so cute and I love your quilt stand, have never seen anything like it out here. Such a great idea to change it every month.

It is STILL raining here, no letup for 4 days, but as I don't have to go out I just don't care I am off to my happy place to play with fabric

Have a great day everyone
