I like how the dark pops though. I do things like that, and then after say, oh it would have been better this way. That's one joy about these samplers .... if we aren't happy, we can live with it. Whereas, if it was a quilt all of the same blocks ... we'd be disappointed or would be doing it all over.

We quilt and we learn!!!

JeanieG there were 60 pieces in Flying Cloud, I also had to keep checking to make sure they were going the right way

My favorite morning of the week and you never disappoint!!!

Anael-wow! those points are perfect! I love how your block is like a "fashion show" of western wear.

QNS-always love your stories. Great fussy cutting in Clouds and I love all the stars in Star block.

Mirab-oh, your blocks are so pretty (love the grey in the first block); and those perfect stripes!

QE-still loving your yellow, esp with the light blue and those fc cowboys are too cute!

Jeanie-very pretty blue and white (know what you mean about those little squares); I love the green you used in your star block. It looks like a peaceful pasture scene.

I agree with JanRN. Wednesday morning coffee is such a treat with all the beautiful blocks to view.

Aneal...A really neat block. I love the blue cowboy fabric.

Mirabelle...I look forward to your roses every week and you never disappoint. The FS looks so different with the stripes. Really a nice treatment.

QNS...you really put a lot into your blocks with your creativity. I can see the dust storm coming. I also had braids for a time but the morning braiding was such a trial for my Mom since I cried with the pulling to make it tight for the day that she cut it off into a bob.

JeanieG...your FS is amazing. I didn't even notice there were two greens until it was mentioned but I really like how it turned out.

QuiltE...Cute kiddos in the corners of the FS and your yellow works well in the FC. Very nice.

I didn't make notes so I hope I didn't forget anyone. Here are mine for the week. I used templates and had the legs of the FC reversed before I realized it but that's just the way the cookie crumbles!

OMG GGal ... both of those just sparkle and dazzle! And both I could see as full quilts, especially your Friendship Star. Outstanding piecework on your part!

Love all the 'eye' candy; Ansel, perfect blocks and perfect colors. Mirabelle, another set of beautiful rose blocks. QuiltE : perfect checkerboard against that dark starry sky. Jan RN, I love your colors and the look of your star...unique and very lovely. Like a Kentucky bluegrass scene. And GGal, love your colors you put together that makes it so unique and lovely with so perfect piecing.

I backed off of so much piecing around the block and cut a solid strip for sides, top and bottom. Did the same with a another block with four small pieces in the center for no reason...made it as one block. The white "ghost" horses and dark "nightmare" are raising dust in the clouds of the sky...surely, you have heard of the those 'riders in the sky'...and 'hillbilly heaven'.

KISS to me is not 'kissing action' but the old saying of "Keep It Simple, Stupid!" Gotta teach that to grandson, too. The little guy is turning four this month; last March, he counted to 20, and ID'd all the colors of Uno and played the game too well for his age.

Ggal great blocks--I love the fabric in Friendship Star.

Here are mine. Paper piecing, fussy cutting, and Y-seams (oh my!). Six months ago I'd have passed by these blocks. Yinz have all encouraged me and taught me to do all these things. Ok, so I cheated and re-drafted Friendship Star to avoid the y-seams.

Oh you guys, your colors are all stupendous and the stitching spot on.
Anael--the white sets the block off well and I can imagine it nestled in between all your others
QNS--you put us all to shame with your block interpretation. "Dust in the wind, all we are is dust in the wind" Pony tails, never had them until I was a teenager; then just pulled it back. So much easier that way.
mirabelle- Ah even without your signature FC spray of roses these never cease to amaze.
QE-a striking contrast in the cloud block. "Giddy up, wet's go" the kiddies call as they pass through the house on their ponies. Cute, cute.
Jeanie-what I saw first was the FC horses, standing still so perfectly. To heck with the star--again fabric selection changing the look of the block. Soft blues will be a restful block in your quilt(s).
GGal-- striking lime green sets the block off. The wavy blue oak leaves create such movement in your block--nice job!
Jan--the bright blue and start white make for vibrant checkerboard. At the same time the subtle background makes the stars shine.
You've all got me wanting to head to the sewing room--shucks no can do.
