This is the FINAL square block! Are you excited???? I am!

G6- Not nearly as hard as you might think. !st of all PP the little center star or piece in the method of your choice. Then sew the background fabric around it log cabin style. Here is the method that worked for me next--I printed ANOTHER block and cut out the center star section to make a template to trim it. Then if you are using the foundation patterns, sew the 2 separate star points on next, then the bottom right corner, then the left side. You should be able to avoid Y seams in this way.

RS 3- I printed copies of the block to make PP patterns for this one too. If you look closely at the pic, you can see where I extended the lines on the top sections to eliminate the need to applique those diamonds. I also pp'd the bottom section. For the big circle..I drew a circle on freezer paper, cut it in half and pp'd the alternating burgundy and beige (on mine). Then I sewed my 2 arcs together to make a circle. I appliqued the circle to the background. I then made black melons and appliqued them on the top. its one of my favorite tris..I think it turned out pretty.

TR13- I redid the groups in the software so that I could pp the entire block with the exception of the melons. I used freezer paper on these and just tucked them into the seams.

Week 55. I thought this was the hardest block of the whole quilt! I may do it over because as hard as I tried the star tip wouldn't match! I ripped many times and gave up finally!!!

Week 55 - Yay, final block!!! I agree it wasn't as impossible as I expected, but I held my breath the entire time I was working on the center section.

Spontaneous  change in plans, I decided to use red sashings and light cornerstones around the stars in the center of the quilt...since she is named Stargazer Jane, I felt I should showcase those star blocks!

Jan, I think they are just fine! I would NOT do it over...it will disappear into the quilt and if anyone ever dared to mention anything to you...well, you have my permission to smack 'em! I can't see what you are talking about anyway!

Meredith...I love your red on the little star block and I love your fussy cutting on the melons on the tri! Great job!

Jan, Your big points look great on G6, that is what shows! I love it!!! It is fresh and crisp looking in the yellow with the white background.

Patti, your G6 has perky look to it, as it looks a little orange.

It is orange Meredith !! I thought I would throw a surprize in the quilt in a few spots. Wouldn't ya' know that I did 4 blocks out of 169 with that fabric in them. Funnily enough, they ended up 2 side by side in 1 spot, then 2 more diagonal to diagonal to each other in another spot. Yup...I moved them heeheeehee!

After moving some of my blocks around, and sewing them together, I see others I wish I had moved! I think that little game could be endless.
