NO disappointments here....Now just why would someone fuss at your for using more than 3-4 colors! If they didn't like the 'idea' of the top, then why do it? It's just real simple, ya don't like the swap, or mystery idea, then just don't join in!! I think that was just plain rude! You just have to ignore people like that... I really do enjoy your mysteries, and it's good to 'explore' new things.. ;o) I'm looking forward to the next one..

Mary O, your's is really pretty...There's just something calming about it. You could use it from Fall thru the holidays. I'm liking how mine is turning out..

I really enjoyed making this with all you ladies. and i learned several things while making this. even had to get the dictionary out finally to look up a word you ladies kept using. monochrome-----different shades of the same color. wow.
Oh,,,,,, it's late for me, and we have been traveling and out of town for a funeral. so i'm a little fuzzy. u know? but remembered something else i wanted to say. thx for the link someone posted for tut on sewing together binding strips on the diag. never was completely satisf. with my efforts before, so i avoided that detail on my quilts. but the tut, made it all click. i can do perfect diagonal piecing now. did miter my corners, and but that was easy for me. oh, and did a 45 degree cutting. haven't quite mastered that, but will try again some time soon. it's always nice to learn another trick to quilting. thanks you all.
and i think we are stretching our creativity a little by learning how to realize this is 'art', and may not be exactly like we would have chosen, if we had have known the outcome to begin with. but art is beautiful in many forms. as our quilts are.

Ok, let me say that the person wh PMed me to complain, she never came back, never joined the train. And I have a thick hide, I can take the criticism!!!

You are all so sweet, thank you.

As to the next mystery, going on another vacation in January, so I'm thinking mid to late February -- will hope to have something ready to roll by then. But I know it will not be any earlier than Feb. 15. So start watching the BOM section after the 15th.

And yes, to answer the question, I'm spending my children's inheritance (saw that on a Mercedes driven by a distinguished older gentleman) -- and spending it with their blessings, I might add. Going to Costa Rica for 2 weeks, by myself again, a tour company, don't know why, just saw the brochure when I was making the plans to go to the Scandanavia area and St. Petersburg last May, and thought it sounded great fun.

If that person wants to follow certain rules, they can do their own mystery. Sorry to go on, but these mysteries of yours keep me sane and help me feel connected. I love them!
Well said, Coopah. I feel the same way. This is one of the first places I check in when I sit down at the computer. Thank you, Judy, for doing this for us. Mine is just three colors, red, black and white. It should be a stunning quilt in your pattern.

Well I would make a TERRIFIC roomie. I sleep almost all the time so you would never get sick of my chatter.. I could visit with all the pool boys for you so you would get a heads up you know on who brings the best drinks, who has the cuttest .. tuush and lets see I am an excellent food taster. Let me handle that and I speak spanish. so you see I could help you a ton on this trip without ever getting in the way unless you dont like the right side of the bed then we would have a problem.

I have to smile the best thing i love themost about that non Christmas looking quilt is the beautiful red. I absolutely love it. It is a pretty quilt with wonderful red squares in it. High five I think is in order.

Jan you know you started a save the day quilt is what you should call it. If anyone is unhappy to the point they wont sew it together and is worried about fabrics and costs well they can do two save the day quilts. I think that mine is going tobe grand. any volunteers to whip out quilting before Christmas/ I am deciding how todo the back. I have lots of the front fabrics the green and the pinks to piece it but how would you do that/ I don't think I can make 18.5 squares and get them to line up? so when I stitchin the ditch it would look .. awful. so how to back it. I can also buy backing with shipping for $25.00 which is a lot considering i have so much of the rest. argh what would you do? help!

(thanks)

And Third I will apologize for making a mystery quilt with so many colors. Someone told me in a PM (and not very nicely, sorry to say) I should only do a mystery with 3 or 4 colors, but that didn't work with the pattern I wanted to share with everyone. But even though I thought jaba's color looked nice on the computer, in person she must not have been happy and for that I do feel bad. But she came up with a fabulous solution with her 9-patch. Perhaps some of you, unhappy with the way the blocks look, can do something like that. And again, I am so sorry to have dissapointed some of you.
Wow, just got on after being gone for a few and can't believe someone would say anything of the sort. Haven't read other replies yet, so will add more, sure it will echo some of the rest. So...........someone has no sense of adventure, no idea of donating the quilt to someone that sure could use it in this day and age and would enjoy the comfort and warmth of it far more than the color combination, and missed out on all the fun things if all they saw was that way of looking at things. Judy...........ignore it, you do such a wonderful job of these mystery rides. And a wonderful job of trying to help people not only with the train ride, but also other issues. You also give as many hints as you can without giving away the mystery. So you have one person's opinion, against so many others. If you take a bruised apple out of a barrel you can still enjoy the rest.

Of course she didn't come back, she knew her life was in danger. Poor person going thru life with no sense of adventure, no imagination, and the fun element left out of her system.

Mary.............................................. love your quilt. If the colors don't go together well for you, they do for me, want my address???

Love everyone's interpretations! As to number of colours, I'm just finishing up a MQ with 14 different fabrics -- the instructions actually called for 20, but I didn't have that many, so 6 was easy peasy. I hope to have mine done in about a week and will post pics. Need to get some Christmas gifts whipped out first.
