Default Judy's 3rd MYSTERY QUILT train ride

Are we ready to start our third mystery quilt?

Everyone is welcome, new passengers and returning mystery quilt fans. Our journey will last for eight weeks, with this being the first week and the last clue on Dec. 2nd. Clues will be posted here on the next seven consecutive Saturdays so you can have the weekend to get started on that week’s clue. I will try to post by 9:00 a.m. on Saturday morning. Clues will be posted on this thread, not on separate, new postings. During the last Mystery Train, most of you liked having the clues given weekly but that doesn’t mean you need to work that quickly if you do not have the time. This thread will stay on the Quilting Board long after we are done (forever, I think), and you can refer back here as needed. Just bookmark this first page for ease is locating us every week.

On this journey we will make a lap quilt about 62” x 80”and will use 6 different fabrics. My suggestion is to use small to medium prints rather than large scale prints; choices I will use are pictured below -- a monochromatic scheme, which I’ve never tried before, but I am being adventurous this time. (Real reason: I am “shopping” out of my stash.)

If you are using color schemes, other than monochromatic, A and B should look nice together with good contrast, and C and D should look nice together with good contrast, and of course, all four will go together. In the A-B combination, A will be the lighter fabric. In the C-D combination, C will be the darker.

In the monochromatic color scheme, you will have two light and two darker ( not super dark) fabrics. In the picture, you can see my A is lighter than B, and C is darker than D.

E and F will end up being in a position that draws your eye in, and I haven’t decided at this point which will be E and which F. But they should be strong contrast to your A, B, C and D fabrics. You will understand when we get a little farther along what I mean.

So this week you will be choosing fabrics, and you will need the following:
Colors A, B, C and D - 1-1/3 yards each of the four colors.
Colors E and F - ¾ yard each of the two colors.
These measurements are pretty accurate, with maybe a few extra inches left over.

I’ll be checking in quite often during the week to see if you have any fabric questions.

Now, two final things -- Have fun! And who brought chocolate for the club car?

No such thing as "stealing" in quilt - borrow, yes, a much gentler word. LOL

You're welcome, beckalou. Can't wait to see your fabrics. To me, seeing what everyone chooses to use is half the fun.
