So I've done quite a bit of sewing on orca bay, though I'm far from done. I've started trying to piece it together and I'm starting to think I'm too dumb to do points. Good grief. Nothing is lining up for me. I am really REALLY trying to do quarter inch seams. The points are being cut off....some of my blocks (particularly pt 7) isn't measuring right.
I'm to the point of frustration with it
Why don't you take a step back from it for a day or two, then come back and hit it again.

Thank you Coyotemagic. Alderdweller, I had to do alot of mine with a scant 1/4 inch seam and I still had to rip some.
I haven't started to put mine together but on the design wall I still have to cut off the dog ears and straighten a seam or two or more but I am still happy the way it came out. My DH says he can't see anything wrong with it . I see my mistakes but it was my first mystery quilt and the mistakes are what I will learn from.

So I've stepped away a couple times and went back. Each time it's getting a little better. No where near where it should be...and I cannot possibly get the diminsions right on step 7. I finally got it to 3 1/2 inches wide but no matter what I do I still only wind up with 6 inches lengthwise.
Honestly I love this quilt...but I am beginning to think it's way over my head. I don't want to struggle with every single stitch, so I'm giving second thought to using these pieces in another project.

I used the blues, reds and blacks as Bonnie suggested.

As you can see from the picture I posted alot of my flying geese are a little off but when you put them next to another block they seem to hide the the crooked seams. Hang in there each time I sew I find out it gets a little easier. I hope everyone starts posting pictures.
Bookworm, I thought we were doing the happy dance where is your picture?

OMG! I just took a look at the final result and I LOVE it! I still have ways to go, but hoping to get some sewing done on it this week.

Carolyn, yours turned out fabulous! I can't wait to see more , including mine, I have never done a scrappy before.

Carolyn your quilt is beautiful. The colors flow into each other in such a great way.
As many of you have noted step 7 is a bear. I have the 3.5 but having a little trouble getting the 6.5. At least they are bigger and not smaller. I will not let this become a UFO! I do love my colors and I think the design is beautiful. As far as the points go, who needs any stinkin points? Stick with it everyone. We have come a long way together.

Saturday, I lost internet, TV and almost my power due to a huge wind storm. I was so mad as I had to try and see the reveal on my cell phone. I did get to see it but I was sweating it that I would be able to get to it. Below is just a small part of my quilt and I just love it. It will probably take me until the end of the month but it will be my first quilt this year. It was such fun, will definitely do another with her.
