Absolutely - Thanks! When I get everything moving I'll post a link to the PDA here so that my PH friends can check in on me if they like.

Lara I think that's a great idea doing a wall hanging out of some AOTH blocks. I agree that it is probably not a practical quilt for your daughter. I will certainly follow your progress on your PDA (when you have one).

Do you have a link to a pic of the Civil War Love Letters quilt? I am not familiar with this one.

I am glad you asked about the Civil War Love Letters quilt, Deecee. I would like to hear more, too.

I ordered the book from Amazon - it should be here today. Here are a couple of pictures... The first is the book cover, showing the center patchwork heart medallion. I am going to do that and then figure out how many of the surrounding 6" blocks I need to do for an appropriately sized bedquilt. I'm not going to do all 121. I couldn't find a picture of the quilt made with the patchwork heart - but I've also included a picture of the 121 blocks made into a quilt. I think mine will look very different made with the pink and purple batiks.

Anyway - back to PH! I am not going to start a new project until I finish this one! ;-)

Wow! Now that is a committment! I have hesitated working on the Dear Jane and the Farmer's Wife because I usually like quicker projects. Penny Haran's blocks are the right amount of #'s for me! I bought pre-cut leaves one year at a quilt show and I appliqued them to muslin squares and I got them out the other day to do something with them and I have enough for one HUGE quilt or at least two or more lap quilts.

Pink and purple batiks will certainly make it look different!

Wow Lara, I think your version with the heart and batiks sounds like it will be quite stunning.

I quite like working on the smaller sized blocks, 6" or 7", but it takes a few more blocks to get the end result.

Well, it is Sunday morning, so I feel the urge to post a PH block!

Here is Starlight. Only FOUR more blocks to go!!! I have one of those assembled and waiting for hand-stitching, so I can really see the light at the end of the tunnel now!

I totally agree about the huge commitment. I am definitely not doing all the blocks in the book. The book gives instructions for a twin-sized version, and once you account for sashing and borders it uses only 48 blocks(as opposed to the 121 in the queen-sized quilt). I will do even less than that because my center heart medallion will take the place of probably 6 of those blocks. Even 40 of the blocks is a pretty good commitment - although they are done on the machine, and should take less time than the PH blocks. I got the book in and my daughter has been carrying it around looking at all the pictures. I think she is really going to enjoy seeing it come to life for her!

Lara, your block really does suit the name Starlight. The centre glows. It is lovely.

I have not done any sewing. DH is back in hospital and between visiting him, keeping up with things at home and a bit of staring at the walls, I have not walked into the sewing room.

It was Fathers Day yesterday so we all visited DH in hospital and then lunched at my sons (it was his first Fathers Day). So it was a full day.

Today is Monday, so back to the working week.
