congrats jan on your 2nd place. still on the road. and have not visited one quilt shop. can't believe it. doing a little quilting on jane at nite in the motor home. and today, it rained. we usually see the kids at nite, cause they all work or go to school during the day. there is a real nice QS just out of fayetteville at exit 58, i should go check them out. their whole basement used to have marked down fabic. which is where i shop. wouldn't mind having a better stash of tans and creams.

I noticed [somewhere??] that someone was using the QAYG method?? I know what it stands for, but to recap/understand completely, you quilt each 4" square as you finish the top separately and then sew them together at the end - also by hand? Is it entirely hand pieced too, or can you machine piece and then hand quilt?
I guess that doing everything by hand would make a much more supple and soft finish.

I don't know about everybody but Leslie completed each block, 9paper piecing, applique, and regular joining of the pieces.) She then quilted the block to the batting. She joined the top and then she put on the backing and I think she machine quilted the top.

I am looking for the Dear Jane book, rulers, etc, if there is anyone wanting to sell their items for this, please PM me.
Thanks for taking the time to read my message.

I am not in a rush to purchase, so if you are not finished with your book, etc. ... no stress, I have lots of things on the go at present.

Have a great day.
Cheers, DonnaJean

Donna Jean, I am glad that you are still getting started on DJ. I have everything for the quilt, but the time. AOTH has me hooked and then I have 2 other quilts to make. I'm glad I will have someone I know to struggle along with me. :-) :-) :-)

I wanted to encourage ya'll to get started and those started to finish yours up....I entered Chocolate Jane in a show this weekend and won a 1st in New Quilts (vs. Antique quilts) and also got a 2nd in the Favorite quilt category. :D

Jan 1 will be my start date. I have about 20 done and had set the project aside when my second son was born 2 years ago. Now that the kids are moving toward independent playtime, I hope to dig it back out. So all that to say, I'm in for round 2.
