Hello Everyone,
Yes, it's November already & time to start making our November blocks for this year's calendar theme. I have just finished my block, so I will post the first picture. Let your imagination's go & see what you can come up with for you November Turkey block. I will be anxious to see how everyone's blocks will turn out. So lets have some FUN!! :D :D :D :D |
Nice turkeys SulaBug :D
|
Just love your turkeys, Sulabug.
|
Great example, Sulabug. Thank you
|
Your turkeys came out very nice. I did not get mine completed yet. I enlarged my turkey and added an extra row of feathers. I will try and work on it so to get it completed during this month. My daughter is going to need another surgery and treatments after. Thank you Sulabug for posting the turkey for me this month.
|
Thank You everyone for the nice compliments on my Turkey block for November. I am still adding embroidery touches to it & will post another picture when I get it totally finished. What a fun block this has been to make.
TOOMANYUFO'S..............I can hardly wait to see how your turkey block turns out. But please take your time getting it done, as we want you to take care of your daughter first. Give her a big HUG for me!! :D :D :D :D |

As much as I like the turkey block, I made another block. We don't celebrate Thanksgiving like you so no turkey's for us! With the November weather in mind I made a block called Wind Blown Star with an applique star in the centre of the block.
|
Nice turkeys! and I like the Windblown Star block too!

Mine is done, but I could have done something with the feet. Oh well. It was a learning experience. I used Wonder Under to fuse the pieces to the background.
|
Labeelady,
I love that feather fabric for the turkey's feathers. How perfect! Great job. |

Thanks, Jeanine! I knew when I saw that fabric in the store that I'd have a use for it some day!

I love needle turn applique and do it a lot, but I decided to jump in and do a raw-edge machine thingy...well my turkey is skinny and funny looking but he stays in my calendar quilt anyway! Just because he was so much fun to do and was my first machine applique!! Bless his funky little heart.....

labeelady, Love your block! If you want to accent his feet a little more you could outline them in black or dark brown.
|
Missgigglewings, he is a very cute funky chicken- oops, turkey. LOL
|
This block has been a fun one to look at,as everyone posts. They are just too cute.Mary

Now that's a smug little turkey. Too small for anyone to want for Thanksgiving. He will survive and make you smile every time you look at him. |
Lots of fun looking turkeys ladies.. Im still stuck on Octobers block. I have been working on gifts for Christmas. Need to take a day and get October and November done. :) I'd like to say time to get busy..lol but I have been busy. This quilt is so close to being done so I need to stay on top of it..

Judy-
How do I order one!?!? Love it! Traci |

Here is my Nov. block! I managed to get it done in spite of my machine making some very unusual sounds at the end.... time for a visit to the machine doc, I'm afraid. And, of course, I have an all day quilt class tomorrow...
|

Lovelyl I agree with Sula your background fabric is awesome. Fantastic job on the turkey:thumbup: I eyeballed the pattern and drew it bigger and then found it was easier to make individual feathers. I think his eyes turned out to look more owlish then I intended. LOL. But he is finished and ready to be quilted so I'm ready to attach all the squares once I get Decembers block done. :)

Oh, he is really cute Jenniky! I have not done mine yet!

Here are 2 (still have 2 to go) I still need to stitch around them but would like opinions as to what color thread to use. My 1st thought is always black to give it pop. Definitely don't want to use matching.
What do you think? |

Joyce..........your two blocks so far are Beautiful!! :D Your fabrics are so pretty & make those turkey's POP!! :D I think I would use green & blue thread on the turkey to the left then two shades of blue on the turkey on the right. Like light blue around the dark blue fabric & dark blue around the light blue fabric. What ever you choose I know that it will turn out spectacular!! Thank you for sharing & we will be anxious to see the next two blocks.
:D :D :D :D I agree with Sula Bug really like yur fabrics.. very nice job Judy in Phx, AZ |
