honestly I think some quilts absolutely need those separate sashing or strips between them.. it calms them down. Some are good with one every third row or so to also calm it down. depends on what your working with and you know so I say if you think you prefer to break it up each and every time then do that! its YOUR QUiLT. Jan did one as a sampler for herself to learn how to do this and she put a big strip between each round .. and it worked great. it also showcased each round she did because of this. I prefer once every two to four rounds myself on my quilts. I find it works pretty well too.

New rounds are coming and not hard to do so get your cutters out and your fabric on the fold and lets get cracking!!! if you haven't found time yet to work on this month there is an entire WEEKEND ahead of you to catch up! and if you don't catch up you simple go to the next round and save this one for an ending round. Lovely part of of the whole whing.. I am guessing by now its clicking. You get it. Your also finding it is getting to be fun now that it all makes sense. I am addicted to these and have enjoyed so much joining the round robins on here and on Facebook. It is like freedom to do something creative and all your very own. How cool is that? so.. come on back we are waiting with open arms and quick cutting boards !

Wow! Some really awesome quilts emerging here!
Mine has had to go to the back burner for a bit while getting caught up on some other commitments. But I'm getting all sorts of great ideas to try out. Know that the one I'm doing now will be just red and blue strips with mitered corners and blue next to the red on two sides and red next to the blue on the other two sides. Considering either the entwined border or Jaba's HST/qst border for the following round. Still have more playing with it to do before I decide.

whitepine, I really like yours. I worked on mine tonite. not happy with it, but it is what it is. I found some orphan blocks and put them on. the colors continued, so that's what I was working for.

oh boy oh boy next month is right around the corner!!! hey hey hey are you ready? I am! today I am playing with the next month hoping for some inspiration.. I love the color play I am getting and while its simple its absolutely me! I will be posting super bright and early as I have to head out to Dialysis but will be home for any questions if you have any later in the morning. I think you guys have got it by now right? its so simple and even if you make a quilt with say one or two rounds at the end it changes the whole thing up. I will never be able to do a simple quilt that is just blocks with straight sashing without wanting to add at least one tada moment in there. Oh happy days!! we are so close!!!!

Thanks, Sewnso. I'm not using the stars right now but switched to the zigzag, so still have a bunch to make. The blue and brown fat quarters that I was trying to use up weren't working so I'm trying to incorporate another color. At the beginning of this, when Elizabrat posted the round robins she was in, I remember thinking, "I don't like that round." But when the next one was added it all went together. I'm hoping that happens with mine. :) I like your B&W and gray. At least that is what colors it looks like on my monitor.

You are right Elizabrat, about not being happy with plain borders after this. In fact, when I look at a quilt now, the first thing I'm looking at is the border. Can't wait till tomorrow.

Whitepine, I also now look at borders on quilts before really see the whole thing, this project is changing my whole mind frame on the ideas of borders, sashing & such. So many beautiful quilts have begun to emerge & I can't wait to see all of them in the end. Waiting patiently for tomorrow.:p

I apologize for the delay and hope that its so fun you will forgive me. I am sure Jan will get on here with her rounds soon and know you will really like the ease of this month. YOu could be done in a day! or two. lol :)

Just trying to stay warm here ladies, it's blowing and snowing and right now it's 7:10 a.m. and it is -11. Another miserable day for the weather.
Suggestion #1: If you saved the 1/2 square triangles from the previous round then this is the time to find them. I trimmed each one to 2 1/2" and made pinwheels to use in this rounds. Sewn together you have a 4 1/2" pinwheel unfinished. Cut 2 1/2" strips from the colors you choose and sew together. I added the pinwheels in the middle and in each corner.
