Another quilt block designed by Rhonda
This is a 12 1/2" unfinished quilt block You can make it larger or smaller by using a different size template If you need a template just pm me and send me your address. I send the 2 1/2" out for free. This one uses my Kansas Dugout blocks and HSTs ..... Here are the directions for the Kansas Dugout blocks done my way The leftovers can be recycled into making more blocks And here is a Quilt you can make with this quilt block. Beautiful. Looks like a time consumer, but works up beautiful. The green and red look Christmasy

All the "X"'s and "O"'s look like a big tic tac toe game. The block is pretty, but really like all the secondary patterning going on.
|
Secondary patterns are my favorite part. Alot of times the block is just okay but when you play with colors and placement of colors then you see a much more fantastic design with the secondary patterns showing up.

Love your Block.

Nice!
Interestingly, this is the same basic block as what I'm using for a swap right now. Two wide strips with a narrow one in the middle, cut on the diagonal. The get arranged to make a diamond pattern, which is the secondary pattern showing up here (the light square outlined by green) when the two blocks are sewn together. I wanted to make a wall hanging for St. Pat's day, and I think this will work out fine, using shades of green. I put mine together in strips and cut them all at one time - just have to pay attention to the order and alternate wide/narrow strips. though I did find that sewing 20 strips together and then cutting on the diagonal was a bit much - had to pull out my 36" ruler as my favorite 24" was not long enough! |
to see all of my BOMs now and in past Quilt alongs you can find them here

very nice design

thanks Nancy

Here is my start - nine blocks ready to start sewing. I ran out of fabric for the green, so the HSTs are a different fabric - but the shade is similar so it should look OK. I'm doing these for fun and practice. And now I know what HST stands for LOL!!
