I like your different Apple tree Anael. We didn't duplicate fabric this week, Mirabelle. I love your apple fabric. Here's mine. Lighting doesn't show the colors to the best.

huntannette 01-11-2012 06:36 AM

ohhhhhh love the apple tree block.......someday i will try that

QuiltE 01-11-2012 06:39 AM

Ladies ... you have me envious for your blocks. So nice and sqaure and pointy for all! And what lovely variations on the colours. Soon I'll be back and posting with you.

Here's the second block (Alabama)

It's great to see what different blocks we all make! I love looking at all the pictures.

Honchey 01-11-2012 07:07 AM

Pretty, pretty eye candy! After seeing the red squares for the apples in these blocks...I guess I really don't need real looking apple fabric for the block....Off to do the block between sneezes. Honchey

Hey there JanieW ... aren't y'all so glad I mustered you up for this trot?
Great blocks there lady ... I see some wee birdies resting a spell before they fly on over to snack on those apples.
The ponies would like to sample first!!! :)

oksewglad 01-11-2012 09:24 AM

The "latigo" looking paisley is a great start to this week's blocks. Everyone has done a great job in piecing:thumbup: And the fabric selection so varied. Love the Macintosh plaids--a wee bit of Stotch blood there?
Keep them coming, QE is "chomping at the bit" to meet her FWS goals so she can piece these!!

How is your FWQ coming?

QuiltE 01-11-2012 10:03 AM

OKSGlad .. you bet, I'm a chomping at the bit! I'm keeping an eye on everyone as I push thru the work!! I call them "study breaks" :) I hadn't thought about the Macintosh plaids ... though me-thinks you have been "into" the Scotch!! (stotch??) :)

GGal ... Thanks for asking!! 94/111 (haven't posted the last four yet) ... I'm pacing myself with FWS targets before I can do PC blocks. I've reached the one to allow me to do the 2nd. I can do the 3rd, and the 4th not until I pass 100. However, I can't do any til I get a report done for a meeting on Friday ... then watch out this coming weekend! :)

No scotch in me, but I'll have a pint of lager now and then!!

QuiltE, yes I am glad you coerced me into joining this group. I did mutter a few times under my breath when I was making that first block, but it's all good now. I can't wait until you finish your FWS so you can get going along with the rest of us.

Leba,
I am really digging the pink and brown.

Honchey... love your paisley. Hope you feel better.

Mirabelle.. stripes scare me but yours looks so good done on the bias. Also love your "rosy" apples

Gardnergal and Anael... Love your colours. Well done.

Looking forward to more blocks.

JeanieG 01-11-2012 03:35 PM

You gals have been really busy! I don't remember when we have had so many blocks posted on the 1st day of the posting before! They all look just beautiful! I've got the Apple Tree done, but have not cut out Alabama yet! Gotta get at it. I am working on my Orca Bay Mystery, sewing it into rows. Using the border blocks as leaders and enders to my Pony Club Blocks! Moving right along on both!

Such wonderful blocks. So different fabrics and color choices. Love them all.
Well, I have only one block done for today, I am still working on my Appel Tree.
Here is my red and white for Alabama:

QuiltE 01-11-2012 08:52 PM

Leba ... two more great girlie-girl blocks there! The horse print really works well, with them dashing off, as though behind the barn or over the horizon. What a nice apple tree! It shows we don't always have to keep with the conventional colours.

JanieW ... A true cowboy, getting into the brew! :) We'll have to find some Canadian Cowboy fabric for our quilts. Wonder what happened to our other Canuck PC Ladies?

ArtEC ... Lovely! Bold and soft all at the same time. And oh so precise!

While I can't be quilting right now ... it's nice to do the virtual quilting with everyone.
This weekend, for sure, I'll be back in the saddle for quality time with my machine! :)

pjnesler 01-12-2012 06:30 AM

Wow - all the blocks are fantastic, I love every tree quilt I see!

Everyone's blocks are just beautiful!! I'm in awe. The fabrics are so different in each one. I couldn't pick a favorite if I had to--I love them all.

QuiltE 01-12-2012 07:39 PM

janRN 01-13-2012 06:20 PM

Jeanie I searched all over for fabric with tiny apples! both of your blocks are great. Those horse shoes are too cute!!

oksewglad 01-14-2012 08:56 AM

janRN, I would've never put that green with the blue, but it is so striking and spiced up with the white. Your clear colors in both blocks are great.
JeanieG, where do you find all these horsey fabrics? Cute little apples in these trees too.

JeanieG 01-14-2012 11:45 AM

While on vacation last year I checked out fabric stores for horse fabric after reading Laurie's information on the fabric she used. We were up in Whidbey Island, WA visiting friends, and there was a fabric shop in Anacortes that had a lot of animal fabric. I wish I had bought more of it - I don't have a lot! Then when we went to Phoenix later in the year, I picked up some more at fabric shops there. I got several different fabrics, but I did not buy large enough pieces. Usually got just 1/8 or 1/4 yds. These blocks take a lot more fabric because of their size. I just got the Hancock's of Paducah catalog in the mail, and they have some great horse, barbed wire, western type fabric in it. You might check out the website. It is expensive - $9.99 a yard.

QuiltE 01-14-2012 12:33 PM

JanRN ... Great job there! Your crisp white really makes those blocks zing and pop. Now you'll have us all out looking for ♥-apples! in the stores! What variety?? :)

JeanieG ... As mentioned already, you really have found some great fabrics. I looked for apples, and found a similar one, with apples cut open. NOt sure whether it will get used with this tree? or not. Like Jan's they really have pop and zip with that white background. (Though I think the apple tree is a very light cream/beige?)

As for $9.99 being expensive ... I'm envious and would be jumping for joy! :) For the most part our LQS fabrics begin at $15!

Quilting Nonnie 01-14-2012 01:17 PM

Howdy Ladies! Even though I'm not joining in the PC, I am watching all of your wonderful progress. This week's blocks are a-m-a-z-i-n-g! There's not a stinker among them!!!! I've got to admit though, I'm happy not to be joining in...I miss you all and well, I started a "standard" "traditional" quilt. Uses two blocks: Economy and Snowball. I'm enjoying the release of pressure. I just pushed myself horribly on the FWS and it didn't make me too happy. Relaxing my horrid perfectionism is good for me.

Also wanted to say that I found really neat retro cowboy fabrics on Ebay. They were inexpensive too! I had started collecting fabrics for PC before I decided not to join the possee !

QuiltE 01-14-2012 01:33 PM

QNonnie ... It's so good to have you as one of our Resident Quilt Whisperer's! You get the best of both worlds ... none of the work to do, able to "virtually" quilt along with us, and being able to contribute with oohs and aahs ... and the all important coach's comments!! Stick with us, and be part of the whole experience!! :)

And don't forget to strut your stuff, and show us that Economical Snowball! ... not much snow here but it's ccccccccccold at -11°C, feeling like -18°C!! brrrrrrrrrr!!

And now my
Dear Cowgirls ... I'm back to FWS for a few more hours, then a good night's sleep by the campfire and then will be a-PC-quilting tomorrow! :)

Here is my Christmas Tree. OPSS it should be an Apple Tree...
I love this block, but I am not happy with mine.
Maybe I'll try again and get a better result...let's see.
Anyway it's done!

janRN 01-15-2012 06:57 PM

ArteEmCasa, thank you for the kind words. But look--we used the same green fabric in our trees. Isn't that amazing--I'm in Pennsylvania and you're in Brazil and we used the same fabric. Quilting builds very long bridges!!!
