I spy three earlybird Cowgirls!!
I've been trying to work on my FWS sashing, so haven't done any blocks .... and am thinking I may watch this week, til I get the FWS all put together. That is, unless I deem I need a break from all the joining? Honchey .. Cool Cats indeed and great FC. What apretty Confederate Rose! Termi ... YOur double kitty fabrics are adorable! :) I see those horses are reaching out for some Rose-apples! JanieW ... CAt's Paw complete with kitty paw print fabric! Great contrasts on your ConRose block! All three ... you're making the CR look pretty darned easy with how well pieced each of yours are. For some strange reason, I don't think that's the case!! :) |
Honchey...your CF is beautiful. Your fabrics are perfect and each piece is so square with the pattern of the fabric. I've never seen such colorful cats and you have the framed perfectly.
Termi...your cats are so different but so cute. Your struggle with CF paid off...it looks good to me. JanieW...both of your blocks are so calming and have such great balance. You won the battle with CF too it looks like. QuiltE...sorry to hear that your still feeling a little foggy. I'd make some chicken soup for you if you lived just down the road. You certainly have my get well wishes. I've been eyeing this weeks blocks but haven't been very enthused about starting them. I did finish piecing my DG's quilt. I'm taking a free-motion quilting workshop in about 10 days so that's all in a box until I've figured out if I'll try To do it on my regular machine or have a friend do it on her longarm. The weather is so nice here that I planted snap peas yesterday. Last year I had a deer or two make their home in my garden. Besides what was eaten, i could actually tell where they bedded down for a rest after they were full! I've been planning all winter how I could fence it for my own use so today I'm off to get some posts and begin the process. |

Anne, I absolutely love your Cat's Paw-the colors are awesome and it's so cute how you FC the cats. As for Conf Rose, yours unfinished looks better than mine finished.
Termi, those are cute kitties; what a difference color makes compared to Anne's. And you nailed Conf Rose-I'm impressed. JanieW I love black and white blocks and you also got Conf rose perfect. I'm jealous LOL! Here are my blocks. Yep, no kitties (Mr. Patches would have a fit) and no Conf Red (it gave me fits). I'm calling my second block Dog Star. It's for me and QuiltE--we love Dalmatians. |

Well, mine are done and I am glad I do not have to do another confound rose! John Barley Corn loved his pony. Bob; in Arkansas, so where did the confound rose enter the picture??Quite the challenge.

Don't be jealous of my block, it's not perfect. Sometimes I wish I wasn't so stubborn.:p |
QuiltingNinaSue,
As usual you have put together two great looking blocks. Your choice of fabrics in the Confed Rose really makes it look so different. I like it. It reminds me of a lifesaver on a ship and there were several times during the sewing of that block that I could have used one! |

I am in complete awe with all your Confederate Rose blocks. I'm skipping this one......I've actually found in looking ahead, that I will be skipping a few. However, I did complete the Cat's Paw and will just settle for this one this week. However, those of you that have done both.....CONGRATULATIONS on a job well done....:)
|
QNS & Wendiq, love your blocks. QNS you pick such bright cheery colors. Wendiq love the black and white-reminds me of my dog, Patches LOL.
|
Well another wednesday morning and more beautiful blocks.
JanRN, very nice contrast in your CP and love the colorful cat paw fabric! What a great block you did in place of CR, (I don't blame you!) What cute dogs! A cat block and a dog block. Very fitting. QuiltingNinaSue, Great contrast and fabric in both blocks. I love the red and purple star fabric and the tiny print. Your CR came out great!! After coming off the heels of Cowboy's Star, we had to do CR. What a bugger!! What a name, John Barley Corn, and a pony named Bob. wendiq, great cats paw!! What a cute little feline in the middle. Nice job!!! |

Ohhhh so many beautiful blocks already! You all did such a great job! Here are mine for this week.

JanRN...what a neat"doggie" block. Great fussy cutting. And the little hearts in the CP are adorable.
QNSue...your blocks are stunning. The CR really shows off the design of the block with more stars in the CP. Wendig...such a cute kitty peeking out of the center of your block. Anael...your pink CR gives it a totally different look. I really like it. And then there is no mistaking the CP will all the fussy cut cats. Great job! |
Anael, great blocks. I love the way you presented the cats. Your colors are so pretty in CR. Love them both.
|
Anael, what great kitty cat fabric, nice job. I like the center one eyeing up the rest. Beautiful colors in CR, nice job on that one too!!
|
GGal ... I'll just enjoy your virtual Chicken Soup! What a party pooper you are, to take away the free lunch for your deer! :)
JanRN ... Your Dogs are Stars!! Good thing you got Patches in the centre or he'd be pouting for sure!! :) Love how your cat's paws have little ♥'s in them! QNSue ... Cat's Paw is purrrfect with your fabric choices!! Great job on the "Confound" Rose, as you called it. You can really see the layers in it, like a rose. WendiQ ... the B+W looks tremendous and makes me wonder if Patches came running chasing your Kitty, and left behind his spots? :) Anael .... Beautiful cats ... and those eyes of the one in the centre, really stare us down!! And Pretty in Pink for the CR! |

Wow what gorgeous blocks everyone,
Honchey love your cat fabric Anael your fabric reminded me of a persian we had when we used to breed cats (in another lifetime), top right corner, our cats name was Benfield Talesh Shaundell and she was a Grand Champion Here are my blocks for this week, no cat fabric just more roses |
Karen, your blocks are gorgeous!
|
Mirabelle...I LOVE your roses. I must look for that fabric. What beautiful blocks you've made with them!
|
Mirabelle, what gorgeous blocks!!! That color scheme is so pretty.
|
Oooooooooooh MiraB ... beeeeeeaaaauuuuuuuuuutiful! I think we're all in love with your fabrics. If I were you, I'd put that Kitty Paw paisley under lock and key so u-know-who doesn't sneak in and snatch it from you!! Looks like you got those y-s tamed!
|
Just beautiful Mirabelle. Love the fabric you're using and you nailed those y seams!
|
JanRN,
I'm no Y seam expert, but this is what helped me. You can click on the pictures in the tutorial to make them bigger and easy to see. I don't press my seams open and I don't pivot. I take a couple of tiny back stitches and remove the piece from the machine. I fold fabric out of the way. Then I line up the next seam. I use starch on the pieces to keep them from stretching. I hope this tutorial helps. Janie http://how-to-quilt.com/articles/220...t-in-seams.php |
Thank you everyone for your kind words, I am having so much fun. The Y seams are going together but I do draw a line for each seam allowance and this gives me a point to stop at the pivot, the seams I have pressed flat
|
Oh my you gals outdid yourselves this week!
Anne, Wow what bright beautiful colors you used in Cat's Paw - love your Conf. Rose too. Termi, I love the tiny little kitties, and Conf. Rose fussy cutting is great. Janie, I love the kitty paw prints, and great color combinations in your Conf. Rose. Jan, your Cat's Paw is so cute...I have not started Conf. Rose yet. QNS, the contrast in your cat's paw is awesome. Your Conf. Rose looks good to me too. Wendiq, really cute fussy cutting cat in the center of your cat's paw. Anail, Oh My, I love cats! You did a great job fussy cutting on your cat's paw. What bright colorful colors you used on your Conf. Rose. |
Thanks for the link JanieW ... I'll go thru it carefully before I tackle that Confound Rose!
mmmmmmmmmmm Do Y'all everyone smell the good aroma coming from QNSue's kitchen? QNSue ... Now that looks like a FUN bunch of days ahead with your friend. We'll look forward to your tales of your time together! Update! ... Oh what a good night in FWS land. It is changing SO much with every seam and I'm getting more excited as I see more and more of the strips coming together! :) Yeeeeehaaaaaaaw!!! |

I know what you mean QuiltE. After all that work, you can hardly wait to see it all done! You bet ... and it encourages you more, with it looking nicer and nicer as you sew it together! Here's hoping for a good weekend, but for now I need to get on with my day and get out the door to a meeting. And you, JeanieG, need to get your plans made to go see Bonnie Hunter IRL! And then of course, report back to us, MissyJG!! |
I want to leave here my compliments to all of you. Such beautiful and well done blocks for this week.
I'm traveling and have no completed blocks to show you . Hope to get them done next week. |

again not to happy with blocks this week. I see how nice everyone elses are and it makes me upset that I can not get the same results. I will try and redo later when I get time. I love all the blocks that everyone has been posting they are beautiful I couldn't pick one that I like the best. Good job ladies
|
Cookie...your blocks are spectacular! I don't know why you are so upset. You did a beautiful job. Remember, quilting is a process and the last quilt we make is always better than the first one but the first one is usually the one we're the happiest with because we actually accomplished it. Keep looking forward!!

Cookie, those blocks are beautiful! I love the fabric in Cat's Paw. I can't believe how well your Confounded Rose turned out. Mine is thrown in the back of the closet in The Box That Will Never Be Opened. Great job! You're a beginner?????
