Oops No Indian on Horseback

Here are my blocks for this week, I did another blocks for the Indian on Horseback, a rose horse just seemed too too silly to me:p
|
Lovely. I am working in roses doing the Chain of love; timeline of my own says finish this week or next at the latest on it...queen size. Its the wedding ring done in the square...done in memory of father-in-law for his sister-in-law.

I love your blocks Mirab. I really like your substitute block and your Jewel came out perfect!
|
mirabelle, Your blocks are beautiful!! Great job on them. I like your substitution block. I don't blame you for not doing the Indian on Horseback. I have mine done but it's a weird lookin' thing. Not my favorite block or my best work. I was hoping to see how others did theirs. Will post later.

Hooray! I finished Jewel....not perfect ....I'm 1/4" short on one side....I may have to change 2 corners...still thinking about it. Mirabelle, your blocks turned out beautiful...H.

I love your Jewel block, Anne. Great choice in colors and I don't see any obvious goofs.
Here are mine; I think both of these will end up in The Box That Will Never Be Opened. |
Hi Jan, I think the Indian on Horseback doesn't do any justice to Horse or Indian....I think I like QNS's idea of a hatchet better...although I like my Primitive Horse better than the Indian on Horseback ....who is going to come up with a hatchet block....Nina???? I like your Jewel block Jan, pretty fabric! uhhh......you can send me that box Jan....How many potholders or mugrugs can I make with castaways???
|
http://www.quilterscache.com/I/IndianStarBlock.html is eight inch block. Also almost the same as FWSQ squash block is another choice that looks the same....yes, all some 1600 block patterns are free. I visit & wish every once in a while.

JanRN, I really like your Jewel block, it's beautiful!! Great fabric choices on your indian.

I haven't got Jewel done yet. It's too hot and we don't have the ac on yet. But, here's my funny looking indian.
|
Nice job, Termi, of piecing the block. Love the background in the block.
|
Termi, you did a really good job piecing your block. I agree with QNS-love the background fabric; it's perfect for Pony Quilt.
|
JanRN, I love your jeweltone block! The fabric is awesome! Very appropriate.

Here are mine for the week...
presenting... Snake in a Box, and Jewel :D |
Thank you, Kathy. Please stop by any time-we show lots of "eye candy".
OMG Deranged--I love your snake block!! How clever to work in the fabric you're using but to create something personal for your quilt. Great job and great imagination--love it. |
Sorry, I looked real fast at the s_ _ _ e block....I loathe them... but the block is very creative and cute......I can't even touch a page in a book if I know there's a picture of one on the other side.... I'm going to the quilt shop today to look at some sashing fabric....
|
deranged_damsel, great looking snake block, what a neat pattern. Nice job on both of them.
|
Great snake-in-the-box and jewel block. I would prefer to 'miss' all the snakes, thank you. Seen my share, like them best in the zoo, not in the wild. Always wanted to go to Ireland, where there are no snakes or to Hawaii where there are no snakes. Chances are that I never will go to either one. Love all the blocks shown, maybe I can work on mine next week and catch up again.
|
Everyone has done a great job with their blocks...I especially like the Jewel ones. I won't be making the Indian/Horse one either. I will be substituting with an "Iowa Star" block.

Here are my two for this week. I forgot to mirror image when I printed, so my Indian is also facing the wrong way.
|
Love the 'pale-face' indian; and jewel block is beautiful. Good job on both block.
|
JeanieG, your indian came out really good. At least it looks like a person. And......... your Jewel block looks like a big beautiful jewel. it is gorgeous, love those batiks!!

Love the animals in your jewel block Termi!
|
Jeanie, our Indians are traveling in the same direction--the wrong one LOL. (Kinda like me--I have no sense of direction.) Your Jewel is gorgeous-love the fabrics you used.
Termi-great piecing on Jewel. Your points all came out perfect and match up. Good job! |
thanks all :D
I dont like snakes either... but I hate mice and rats even more! EWWW I think all of yall's jewel blocks are THE BEST!!! so far watching this thread I see SO MUCH creativity with this one, simply beautiful :D |
I finally see what I don't like about the Indian Block... The horse's feet are too big!!!! All the blocks are really great!!!! I was going to ask if anyone wanted a" siesta" for this Tuesday...then I said no to myself can't do that....July 3 & July 4th block fall into place perfectly.....now to go cut my pieces for it.

I agree Honchey. Looks like the horse has one clubbed foot. |
Termi ... good for you for doing the Indian. And what a perfect fabric, too! Your Jewel really suits its name.
DDamsel ... Sorry, I'm with the others in not caring for snakes. Though I will confess, I do admire this one!! ... great job on the barbed wire placement, and getting it centred dead on, on the face. Kind of adds to the slithery-ness of the snake! :) JeanieG ... another with the Indian and well done! Great mix of fabrics for Jewel, and oh so jewel-like! |

I didn't care for the Indian block, but I haven't decided what to replace it with. I posted the jewel block on the wrong thread so I will also add it here.

|
It's just as pretty here!
|

Here are mine for the week. I chose not to use the Indian block. To me it looked like his head was about to fall off. I did a block called Barn Dance in it's place. |
GGal--both blocks are very pretty. I like the fabrics in both. Was Barn Dance a pattern online or something from a book? I need a few substitute blocks and like that one. :)
