Just finished my second block, that's it for another week:thumbup:
|
Your blocks are beautiful mirabelle! I thought the same about my Patience block, way too close!
|
Very pretty blocks Anael & Mirab. How different they look in the colors you each chose.
|
Jan--great job finishing 2 blocks this week. I almost thought your Christmas fabric from Rosie snuck in the frog block, but then looked closer and see it is leaves...very pretty.
Anael--way to jump into PC. Your corners look great and I like the little floral fabric. Mirabelle--both blocks as they are in the book...wow! You always do such a nice job with fussy cutting your roses to make them fit just right. No blocks for me this week. I *should* have blocks to share next week though!! :) |

JanR...the first frog! I love it. Also the other block. It reminds me of those fancy formal gardens with the prize in the center.
Anael...you did it and it turned out very good. Your colors works well to make the shadows. Mirabelle..your wonderful roses translate well into any of the blocks. Beautiful frame for your roses in Pleasant Paths. Here are mine for the week. I thought I swore off of y seams but Tumbling Blocks, another name for Patience Corner, has always been a favorite of mine so I did it and I'm glad I did. I love the way the colors play off of one another and give the sunshine and shadow affect. |
I like your blocks better gg! The Patience block has the sunshine and shadow sides, lovely!
|
mirabelle, your FC is perfect. Love the telescoping effect the PC your block depicts.
GGal your simple use of fabrics with just value and no specific design creates beautiful blocks. |

Ok, have pictures and think I am ready to post this morning:Horses coming out of the barn and its shadows..quick close the gates.
Pleasant paths will not upload for unknown reasons. Let me resize it again...try, try again. |
It did load; Ok, but fuzzy. It says that a " house on the beach seems very close to Heaven" but is an ode to all our homes where our hearts are, in the mountains, on the plains, around the world (windmill) and ranch...a piece of Heaven on earth.
|
Ggal, great job on the y-seams. Your colors make Patience look 3-D. I actually made Patience (yes, I did those blasted y seams and it turned out perfect------exept I flipped 2 of the rectangles and I couldn't make myself do it again.) For Pleasant Path I did the center as a Snowball block so avoided the y seams in that one. You really got yours perfect.
QNS what fun blocks and stories you always have. I can't wait to see your quilt finished--it will be like reading a book just looking at it and remembering all the stories you've shared. |
Thank You, thank you Jan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am getting ready to sew and I'm changing the middle of Pleasant Paths to your technique...no Y seams..Yeah...There's always more than one way to oops...better not say it...too many cat lovers out there...you have made my day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
QNS, what can I say???I love your blocks!!!! GGal,,your sewing skills show in your blocks..really great...I've been working on a tumbling block quilt for a few years now using the English PPing...so I think in between all the projects I have going I will do Patience Corners that way... DD, I think of you every time I want to sew a block by hand.. |
QNSue..your blocks always tell such a neat story! I particularly like the way you've framed the horses with the blues in Patience Corner. Very nice.
Thanks for all of your words of encouragement. You are all very encouraging. |
If I weren't already a PC rider I'd come along just to look at your blocks and hear your interpretations, QNS. You truly have a gift. Thank you.

Not happy with Pleasant Paths picture being fuzzy,so thought I would try again. Hope that is OK.the caption says "Heaven is a little closer in a house by the sea. D. Morgan" From the mountains across the seas (top & bottom of block) from the mountain lodge to the Dutch windmill, the ranches of Australia, may you all find that you have that feeling of Heavenly Love wherever you are. Love QB and PC trail companions making this journey. Thank you for all your kind words.
I think we all get a preview of the future when we look into our grand children's eyes. Shiny, bright and filled with love...its indeed, Heavenly. |
Camera angle makes it look crooked, but the square is measuring square in reality...truly. QNS

QNS--looks good to me. :)
I cut a few blocks today and even got PC sewn up! I figured out I only need 60-70 blocks for my 2 quilts so won't be making all the blocks...I guess that makes me not as far behind as I was before. LOL |
Such soft colors with the purple, Carrie. Wouldn't this be a lovely center to a medallion type quilt using a setting of 3 x 4 blocks?
|
OK--Yes, it would be pretty, but I don't think I want to make 11 more of this block!!
|
Carrie...you're brave to do the y seams when you don't have to do them all. Good job!

My Patience Corners is going to the corner to sit for a long long time! Carriem, great job....
I just finished Pleasant Paths...I was going to use a dark purple or black with the star print but it was too too muddy for me...so I used the cream on white instead..kind of reversed but It's done...I was going to use Jan's method of the snowball center...changed my mind and it took me two days...I can't seem to get past the not cutting across a pattern(stars)& end up fussy cutting.... |
That is gorgous Honchey - you did a spectacular job, as always! Mine are finished, I just need to get them scanned and uploaded! Tomorrow!
|
Honchey...I'm glad you used the cream. It sets off your fussy cut stars to perfection. Very striking.
|
Honchey--nice block! I like the stars and agree the lighter fabric really lets them shine. :)
|
Definitely the right color choices, Anne. Just lovely.

Here are my blocks for this month:
|
Oh, Jeanie, your patience corner is awesome. Great corners and the fabrics really work the pattern. And then your fussy cutting for the other block really shows off that pattern too. Well done.
|
Jeanie--nice blocks. I like the little paisley in PP.
|
Oh no I can't believe that I forgot go & git this thread. I got the discussion thread but didn't git this one. Hmmm I think I'm goin' nuts. Everyone's blocks are great! I love 'em all.
|
very pretty ladies! this one sure looks challenging :D
|
Another bunch of spectacular blocks!
Persistence and Patience has produced some great 3-D effects here. And what different effects (not like that's a new concept in the PC camp!) from the fabric combos for Pleasant Paths. Ribbit Ribbit for JanRN's Frog for MiraB ... good catch, the green frog amidst some flowers/ Perfect for MiraB! :) |
