Hi Everyone, I should have Floral Bouquet done in about 1/2 hour...I've been sewing it watching the Presidental Debate tonight. I would have gotten it done yesterday at work but I played instead with some mindless sewing of postage stamps...I'm sure...no, I know someone will post a photo soon...:)

.....actually didn't you have round 2 with a certain someone about a machine!! :D

Look forward to seeing what the blocks are for this week!

oksewglad 10-16-2012 07:49 PM

Isn't it fun to mindlessly sew and see what you can make of it? No blocks for me as I choose not to do these two.

I don't even want to think about that nasty woman...every time I wanted to speak she started yelling more...I had to walk away from her....On to better things... Here is my block...the middle really is nice & flat I didn't remove the paper under that area..

JeanieG 10-16-2012 09:01 PM

When I worked at the Elementary School, this parent came in yelling at me about something a teacher had done. I calmly looked him in the eye and said "You have no right to yell at me about this, it is not my fault!" He backed right down. I don't know how that came out of my mouth!!!!

Great block Anne - I've finished this one, and it went together easier than I thought. Now onto the next one....it is rather intimidating!

I managed to finish these this morning, did not have fun with one of them, I was short of fabric and had to piece two pieces together to get the unit I wanted. I just had my DD look at it and she couldn't pick the join so heres hoping no one else can.
Psst I won't be offended if anyone can see my fault:D

Honchey your block is beautiful as always

mirabelle 10-16-2012 11:00 PM

I reallllly need to clean my printer:o I am off to do that now

QuiltingNinaSue 10-17-2012 03:57 AM

In every crowd but this one is a horse's rear end, certainly in the bunkhouse. Did two Floral blocks trying to figure out the templates...

Wow, great blocks everyone!! I am so impressed that yinz are doing these. I think the rest of my blocks are subs--wonder "y"???? I did the frog for Mirab and tulips for Anael so here's the Maple Leaf for QE. I made the second block because when I had my blocks spread out I needed another block that read "roundish".

janRN 10-17-2012 04:36 AM

I have no idea why they posted twice. Honest there's only one of each block.

Everyone has some great blocks this week.

Honchey--pretty flowers

Mirabelle--I don't see any extra seams. Nice to see someone did SS....I opted to skip it since I don't need all the blocks.

QNS--you have a great variety of fabrics and lots of fun fussy cutting.

Jan--your blocks look so crisp with the white background.

I did just FB...

QuiltE 10-17-2012 05:10 AM

Some beautiful Floral Bouquets to start the day on this dreary and rainy autumn morn!

Honchey ... Fresh as spring!

MiraB ... extra seam I do not see ... besides when I need to do that, I remind myself, that's the true essence of patchwork in the past! Plus any extra seaming soon disappears with quilting! As always, *sigh* for your beautiful fabric!

QNSue ... Double Bouquets for our overachiever! I like that autumn touch with our Canada Geese a swimming!!!

JanRN ... awwww thanks for my Maple Leaf!! This is so sweet of all of you! and here I thought you were trying to double up, following on QNSue's work :D! The bright whites will be nice contrast within your quilt. Nice "roundish" block for your sub. Is that a free online pattern? It fits well with the quilt ... and there could be some mighty-nice FC in the centre too!

CarrieM ... From Jan's white to your dark ... lovely too!

Honchey 10-17-2012 05:14 AM

I was later than usual...the debate got me all fired up and I was too angry to type...I found myself pounding the keyboard and making mistakes...it took me awhile to calm down...
Great blocks everyone and QNS you made more than one!!! Mirabelle ..it took me awhile but my lips are buttoned...Jan, I'm so jealous you have the quilting done..Can't wait to see your blocks JeanieG....just saw your FB Carriem...I love the way the dots bring it all together.

QuiltE 10-17-2012 05:32 AM

Honchey ... oh dear! I hope you were able to settle and get a good night's sleep!

Honchey 10-17-2012 06:21 AM

A rather large glass of merlot did the trick!!!

Well I DID these two! WOOHOO... BUT.... my camera decided it dosent want to download to my computer... SIGH

CONGRATS!!! all the blocks look LOVELY :D :D :D

oksewglad 10-17-2012 07:20 AM

Fantastic blocks ladies!! Just repeat everything that was said. Each block is so special in it's own way.
Looks like a cold windy day is headed our way, but with a song in my heart I'm off to wash dining room windows and they pay a few bills. Thanks QNS!!!

JeanieG 10-17-2012 09:17 AM

Oh my goodness, such a busy thread already! I think we chat more and more every week. What fun to read all these comments this morning. I'm going to miss all this when we are done with this project!

Wow - great blocks everyone. I have finished Floral Bouquet, and almost done with Seminole. I'll post a little later today.

I'm off to have lunch with my Retiree Group. The people I worked with at the School District that have retired (I retired 9 years ago) all meet for lunch once a month. What fun to stay in touch with them!

We have some brave, dedicated quilters in this group. I whimped out and did a couple of subs. The first is called California and the second is Missouri Star. I got them from quilters cache and had a little struggle getting the size of the first one correct but frames work, huh?
Honchey...your fabrics work so well together and your bouquet could be a center piece on anyone's table. I started listening to the debate but after the first question that wasn't answered, I turned to something else.
Mirabelle...I've looked as close as I can and there is no extra piecing to be seen. Your blocks are beautiful.
QNSue...you are a brave one to do 2 FB. Both are so different and then your horse's behind in the bunkhouse...whew!!!
JanR...what nice blocks and I too like how you quilted them. How is your new toy doing?
Carrie...your FB shows off nicely. Love the colors.
I declare, QNSue, you do have a book in you. Thanks for sharing. And it looks like you got the FB templates figured out.
OKSewGlad...I hope the song keeps singing. You have some rather unfun tasks today...unless you're someone that actually enjoys washing windows.
Jeanie...we'll just have to figure out someway to continue. Friends, old or new, are worth the effort it takes.

QuiltingNinaSue 10-17-2012 12:07 PM

Lovely blocks GG. Love your colors and choice of blocks to 'fit' in with the others. OksewGlad posted the 8 inch Missouri Star last week, and I downloaded it to possibly use at a later time. Loved the way you did yours.

There is an error in both Floral bouquets; turned out to be the same in both, less noticeable in the cowboy rodeo one. Easy compared with Verna's favorite block....I finally figured out it was a 'pizza' sliced square, then it was easier. Guess I should have used what I would put into a home made pizza!!

Nice, Jeanie, that you can go meet up with other retired teachers that you know and still get along with so well. I was just so happy to say 'Good-Bye' to staff and move out of state by 1500 miles...back into the mid west where we can garden and raise our own poultry. Gloomy day, yet I count my blessings and have a song in my heart...everyone is so active on PC QB board and I love reading all the latest postings.

JeanieG 10-17-2012 12:59 PM

QNS - Sorry to say I was not a teacher - they made much more money than I did! I worked in the District Office in Budgeting/Accounting and I was in charge of all the Attendance for our District. I worked as a Principal's Secretary for five years prior to moving up to the District Office. I loved my job and made great friends. We only had four for lunch today, as several are traveling. Often we have 8 to 10 people.

Cookie LM 10-17-2012 01:02 PM

As usual all your blocks are beautiful, sorry I haven't been able to work on mine lately, I am really behind it has been a busy summer, But I am going to finish my blocks just won't be on time with all of you. I still look at yours each week. I made pillows(embroidered) for my church, made some rag quilts for 5 nieces and nephews, made covers for our new chairs, made some purses for some friends and a couple of lap quilts for friends, and some walker bags too. I really need to get started back. Keep up the good work. Hope to catch up soon.

QuiltE 10-17-2012 01:11 PM

GGal ... now those are beautiful! and look perfectly pointy and successfully squared in every way!
I'd be mighty careful as to what you do with the fabrics ... OKSGlad may sneak in and steal them from your stash for her FWS!

DDamsel ... til you show us the real thing, I'm virtually looking at them and saying OMG, more of those beautiful blue and whites. Perhaps with a dash of lace with the barbed wire? :)

janRN 10-17-2012 01:35 PM

Love your blocks Ggal, your colors are awesome. I'm glad I'm not the only one doing subs. I got mine off of QuiltersCache also. This one turned out the right size; others I've had to add a "frame".

carriem 10-17-2012 01:41 PM

Ggal--I agree with others...good block choices and very pretty fabrics.

Yeah, finished my blocks for this week! They were much easier than they looked. Maybe I'm just getting used to those "Y" seams!

QuiltE 10-17-2012 07:21 PM

Pretty Pretty!

Oh sure .. easy peasy! ......... NOT!

For me it wouldn't be the Y's so much as those abrupt L corners!

mirabelle 10-17-2012 08:46 PM

Beautiful blocks from everyone as usual, thanks for keeping the secret Honchey:eek: I'll just keep everyone else guessing.
JeanieG are you really getting used to Y seams, its funny that everyone was cringing when we did the first couple now we seem to take it in our stride, although I still struggle, just make sure I mark every seam line.
Now I am off to the sewing room, I have had a lovely morning out with DD doing a little shopping, having some lunch and then driving home

JeanieG 10-17-2012 10:30 PM

Yes Mirabelle, those blocks went together really well for me. I just sew them in sections. Pin at the top and at the first intersection. I sew right to the spot where it turns, and backspace once, the bring my needle down again exactly at the spot. I raise the pressure foot and turn the two pieces so they are going in the right direction. I put a pin in the next spot where it will turn again and make sure it lines up with the sewing line, then just proceed to that next spot. Sometimes, if it does not seem to line up right, I'll take it out of my machine and line the next section up and pin, then put the needle right where I left off and stitch to the next turn spot. Hope that does not confuse anyone more!

So glad you had a great day with DD. I went to lunch with my Retiree Friends! It is always fun!

QuiltingNinaSue 10-18-2012 04:00 AM

Beautiful blocks, Jeanie; love that purple one. Yes, its fun to have lunch with friends. I did that every Saturday in Corpus at Kiko's Mexican Restaurant with some ladies. Miss that. But love it here 'cause we can grow our own veggies and have fowl critters in our yard....deep freeze is overflowing so no room for any dressed critters there...

Back to sewing room today and finish the last two blocks of PC. Then photograph and put on file in the computer. Then work on border around each block to put them together.

gardnergal970 10-18-2012 04:41 AM

Jeanie...the plaid is a nice touch. Just the right contrast to set off the purples. Thanks for you tut too. Maybe I'll give it another whirl with a little more patience.
Mirabelle...I still can't see the patch butt I thank you for mentioning it. I'm making a runner for class and couldn't squeeze out the last triangle and then I remembered you pieced a piece. It worked!
Sounds like all the sewing machines are humming today. Have a productive one my friends!

janRN 10-18-2012 04:42 AM

Love your blocks, Jeanie. And you make y seams sound so easy. Not for me, altho I can do them I just choose not to cause I have to rip them out a couple of times to get the puckers out. I have no patience LOL.
Hope everyone has a good day--beautiful fall morning here with lots of sun, cool, and the trees are more colorful than the past few years. Looks like a postcard. My exciting day: get my pic taken for drivers license. I've had the card for a month and it expires tomorrow and I have to work tomorrow. Can't procrastinate any more. Dragging DH with me--bribed him with eating breakfast out.

QuiltE 10-18-2012 04:55 AM

*giggles*
Driver Licence photos are always horrible ... not that they aren't bad enough, we aren't allowed to smile any longer either! Talk about looking like death warmed over.

So does that also mean there's a birthday that we should be helping you to celebrate, JanRN?

Have a FUN morning ....... photo and breakfast out! :)

mirabelle 10-18-2012 04:55 AM

JeanieG your tute was perfect, exactly like I do them dardestly things. Only a few more blocks to go, I haven't looked ahead will check out the next two on Sunday.
QNS do you only have two blocks to go, well done. Can't wait to see your finished quilt, it is going to look amazing.
Ggal hope you didn't go cross eyed looking for my extra seam, me thinks Honchey must have good eyesight. I figure you won't know once it is quilted, well that's my story and I am sticking to it.:D

janRN 10-18-2012 08:37 AM

You're right, QE, today's my birthday. I know you guessed it by the exciting day I have planned. Small world--lady taking my pic has birthday today and is a quilter. By the time we were done gabbing, a line formed out in the hall.
DH surprised me with a very pretty multicolor bracelet (says he's tired of me always wearing black or navy so wanted to add some sparkle; I like sparkle!) Meeting DS, DIL, and grands for dinner. Last time we went to this restaurant on my birthday they made me wear a sombrero. I told DS the only way I'll go there if he doesn't mention my bd and they don't sing and bring out the sombrero. I hate when people look at me LOL!!
Off to the Quilt Cave--gotta do some cleaning. I can't find the last few PC blocks I made; need to finish quilting them.

QuiltingNinaSue 10-18-2012 08:58 AM

Happy Birthday, JanRN; may you have many more.

Yes, I finished sewing the last block for PC. Hurrah!! Now to work on the extended blocks. Maybe check out the LQS shop hop that is going on this weekend...3 days.

deranged_damsel 10-18-2012 09:44 AM

!!!HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! :D :D :D

hey? do we have a virtual sombrero somewheres???
