Mirabelle...didn't mean to ignore your lovely quilts you posted yesterday. What fun it must be to quilt with DD. I would love to do that.
Jan...what is it with you nurses that smoke? A good friend that I quilt with is a nurse and she smokes too! I guess we all have our vices.:o I don't think you should be so shy about your quilting skills although I do understand how you feel. We're not here to judge but to enjoy!
Anael...thanks for the pictures. Glad kitty it feeling better and the news from the nursery is good. Do you you know how much weight the little ones have gained?
DD...do the volunteers want to use your new toy too? You would have quilts non stop!
QNS...with all of your cooking I don't see how you have time to sew. You don't let any grass grow under your feet do you? It all sounds soooo good. Have fun with your company.

All...I have another idea for us. I just picked up the Quiltmaker magazine today and it has quilt on the front that is designed with "made" cloth. You take scraps or crumbs sewing them together any which way and then cutting a shape from that. She made stars from "made" cloth setting them with a constant background. It was really lovely. Jan I know that you said you get bored when you make more than a couple of blocks with the same pattern but the beauty of this that I think we could do substitute blocks for variety. I don't think any if us lack scraps!

GG I have that magazine and did study the picture closely, I loved the bright colours she chose....

As to a Round Robin, I organised one for a group once upon a long long time ago:p,, we were to start with a centre block no big deal so far.. I handed out bags for the blocks to stay in as they were passed around and gave everyone a notebook. The first person was to write their colour preferences, who the quilt was to be given to etc etc any little bit of information that would help the next person in deciding what to do.. My centre was 16 inches and the block called Devils Claw which I made in burgundy, green and cream. I wrote in my notebook that I wanted my quilt to have an antique/aged look, no brights. Well the first person put a lovely pieced border on and the next step was to turn the block on point, I was horrifed when the fabric used to turn the block on points was a bright teal, I can still picture it:mad: I bit my tongue which was very hard for me, but when the final border was an orange floral I threw my arms in the air and vowed I would never participate in a round robin again.

there is a good news story following this debacle, my DD knew how upset I was so made me make another centre block and she would decide what fabric was to be used next and I had to sew it. I questioned her choices sometime but she always said "trust me Mum" so my quilt has always been known as the "Trust me Mum" quilt and has always lived on the back of my sofa in the lounge room.

In our guild we are participating in what I call a mystery exchange. Focus fabric and a completed block was in the bag when exchanged. Each new exchange was to add a new block using the focus fabric and the completed block as a guideline. All well and good. I was the first exchange and got my block done well before the next guild meeting. The week before next meeting I could not find the finished blocks and fabric. I swear I tore the house apart and concluded it had gotten hauled out to the trash pile to be burned (remember I live in the country) as it was in a plastic bag so no one could see in it. So I trotted over to the LQS hoping to find similar fabric which I sorta did. Fortunately remembered how to sew the first block as I had just made the same block for another project and had the right fabrics to go with and made a second block; took the bag to guild and no one is the wiser until this spring when quilter #7 finds fabric that's not like her initial fabric. Oh and 2 weeks later I found the bag; it had not gotten burned.
The moral of the story--do not trust oksewglad to a round robin. She'll lose it for sure.

Just looked at the cover quilt GGal. That looks like a fun quilt to make. Our guild meeting tonight was on crumb blocks--a SitNSew working with it on Saturday that I can't go to--bummer.

So kitty is a snuggle kitty? Been a long time since I had a cat in the house; but I couldn't leave quilt blocks on the floor for layout--I had a huge floor in the old house that worked just fine. That old kitty would scatter them all over having a grand time. Only took me once to learn not to do it again! Night all.

Hello Ladies ... I've been off on the dusty trails for the weekend. Nose somewhat to the grindstone, but not really. Got lots else done this weekend too. Then back to work today.

We really lucked out this time!!! there was 6-8" of snow when all was said & done...It's raining right now & very foggy... I made the meatballs for the kids on Sunday and then they played all afternoon in the snow..Tommy (4) doesn't know how to pack a snowball and just picks up clumps of snow to throw to his dad and tells him "don't break it"..he is so funny...of course grandma had hot chocolate & dunkin donuts for them when they came in...had to strip them down to their undies and put everything in the dryer..needless to say they had alot of fun...
I sewed all day & most of this evening... I pp'd sixteen 3" blocks for a wall hanging sample. I'll be teaching beginners PP next month at the gallery...I won't be using the same pattern for the class...I will have to make a few simple sample blocks that they can pick out the one they want to do...I'll post a photo tomorrow after I get the blocks sewn together...
I just chedked the clock and it's waaaaaaay past my bedtime....goodnite all!!!!!!

Update on Bram and Isa: Isa was put back on the ventilator after one hour. But it's a start. Bram had to have his tube removed as they found fungus in his mucus. Last night they put in a new tube as he wasn't able to breath on his own. Otherwise they had a quiet night.
