Another round of fantastic finishes. My Contrary Wife fabric choices were just that. I choose to be contrary (or should I say "onrey" as DH says once in a while) The electric pink in the squares with that geometric thing going on is really out there for CW prints. The brown is not the right color and the pink is just to bright IRL. (pic looks better than it is), but that's MY block! After looking at these I think I could've sewn C&B together differently. Think I will press open the pieced corner triangle seams and it will look better. Mine is an example of not paying attention to the pieces when cutting. The big design of the beige fabric makes it look like I've used 2 different fabrics. Hey QE waiting for yours!

I actually like the brown and pink, you little outspoken, contrary "little lady"! I think the C&B is just fine. That's a pretty red? is it red? print (the darker one). A very nice job!

PS, OK and QE, how do you get the different font and size in your posts? Can you give me step by step instructions? TIA
|
Thanks QN. The C&B dark is a rust. One of the prettiest fall colors is the rust colored soybean fields just waiting for the combine. Depending on the variety some are deeper rust than others.
See the message box below the Quick Reply? On the little box that says font, click on the down arrow and you will get a choice of different fonts. Pick the one you want (Comic sans) ; the next little box is size (3) ; the one with the letter A is color (Indigo). Have fun! |
I don't have a little box. :-(

You may have to wait just a bit for the toolbar that has the boxes to appear.

Do I need to join or may I just jump in?
~Dave |
Just jump right in! The original group started in Aug. 2010 and finished in Aug. 2011. However there are stragglers (like me) who weren't able to keep up and are still working on it. There are others who joined in later and are still posting blocks. In the past week, three new people have started. You will have plenty of company!
Our suggestion (the FW'ers) is to go through the BOM and subscribe to every picture thread. It's great to read the posts and see the blocks that have been done. I get lots of ideas for each block by looking at what has already been made. There's also discussion about easier ways to do blocks, etc. If you don't want to find the threads manually, I do have a list of all the picture pages for all the blocks. I could email it to you. Just dive in and start posting, and it will go out to everyone who has worked on the quilt. If you are a paper-piecer, you can get those patterns. You need to join Yahoo Groups, then join the Farmer's Wife group. Once you're accepted you can go into the files and find all the paper piecing in one place. If you want to rotary cut, then Honchey listed directions for that each week the blocks were posted. Of course the templates are on the CD that came with the book. Because there are so many of us getting the emails for the blocks, just ask a question and somebody will answer! Welcome to the friendliest group of quilters around! |
