This was a tough week for me.

H10- This one is a straight forward pp or regular piecing until you bet to those hourglasses in the corners. In hindsite, I would have redrawn the pp pattern for this block to make the corners easier.

G8- You have a choice to make here as you can sew all the diamonds together, then either applique the entire star to a background square, or you can sew the set in and Y seams. Believe it or not, I elected to sew the set in and Y seams. I must be getting a little bit better or at least more comfortable with them.

G12-This one is kind of complicated, but I think really pretty. I chose to PP the background, then I back basted the little triangles (which are black on mine). After I appliqued those, I laid the entire top piece on top of those and appliqued it down.

G13- I just rotary cut the background and sewed a 9 patch. But when sewing it together I tucked the little curves into the seams. I made the curves with a freezer paper pattern. After sewing the 9 patch together, I sewed the outside of the curves down.

LS-12 This actually looks much harder than it is if you take your time. Don't try to do this one in a hurry. Again, I extended the lines on the top to avoid having to applique the diamonds on the top. I broke the triangle into lots of 10 units. Once I got all the units sewn together...build it from the bottom up and its possible to do it without a single Y seam.

Really nice!

Butterflyspain 10-12-2010 12:04 PM

Those are all great as well. Its funny when I look at those now my brain is going as to what is the easiest way for me to get them done. Whether or not I follow the pattern or make my own up.

sandpat 10-12-2010 05:31 PM

Jan, love your colors, they seem so fresh and crisp!

Janstar 10-13-2010 07:56 PM

Love the way you did your star Pat! Black and red, pretty!

You did what I did on the tri and the other star Wil. Could'nt see doing all the extra pieces.

wilhelmina 10-13-2010 09:14 PM

Jan, My stars are all pieced, because I used the same fabric, the seams don't show up in the pics! All those little curved pieces are sewn together...the star on the black background needs to be redone as it doesn't match up very well.

Patti knows how to showcase her skills better with multi fabs!

Butterflyspain 12-08-2010 04:07 AM

Funnily enough I found the bow tucks one H10 a bit of a trial to do

sandpat 12-08-2010 05:02 AM

Pretty, pretty Elle! Now you are back on a roll, huh? H10 was kind of a bugger...I didn't know it was a bow tuck though. Shows what I know:roll:

Butterflyspain 12-08-2010 05:57 AM

he he, I am inclined to call them by their name instead of the number. Just 38 more blocks to go yippee I can see light at the end of the tunnel.

sandpat 12-08-2010 06:14 AM

Duh...me....I didn't think to look at its name .. Yup, you can see that light- its a great feeling isn't it?? Exciting!!! Yippee!!!

Butterflyspain 12-08-2010 06:17 AM

Shemjo 12-08-2010 12:38 PM

I have been moving mine around and will just HAVE to get back at my DJ

Butterflyspain 12-08-2010 01:19 PM

Have to admit Shem it has taken me a lot of effort to get back into it. You know that when you do the addiction just takes over and you will be flying again with it.

Elle

sandpat 12-08-2010 04:04 PM

Yup Shem, you do need to jump back into it..yours is very pretty!

Butterflyspain 12-08-2010 11:52 PM

Shem I agree with Patti, cīmon, just one a day to get you started again, you will be surprised how quickly you get on a roll again.

Elle

Shemjo 12-09-2010 02:09 PM

I will give it a go this evening, after I finish the top I have to do for my church group's next raffle quilt!

Butterflyspain 12-09-2010 02:22 PM

Good for you.

sandpat 12-09-2010 03:27 PM
