I think my only regret with my blocks is I have not been using the same background on all of them. I haven't chosen what will be the corner pieces but I will use the same fabric on that part. I did the December block that is posted on the website where we are getting them from. It's my favorite one yet!! I won't share it until it's due time.;)

Went looking for this thread by "Advanced search" at the top of the pages here on QB and it popped right up. This is where we can all discuss things, ...hint, hint to all those who lose their way...not for photo pictures of SYE, just discussions....

I Love all the posted pictures, but hope now everyone has it sorted out....and how to find it. Makes life a bit simpler for all of us. But I can understand the excitement of " I am finished!! Now to post it"...and accidentally get it in the wrong place in all the excitement to share. It has happened to me also when I started with the FWSQ and PC, so just please continue with your postings in the right place, at the right time...we want to view them all!:o Not to say I might make a mistake yet, but to err is human, and if you do err, that just might mean that you are human too!!! And forgiveness is divine!!

I certainly did not want to scare anyone away from discussion of the SYE here. Are you using the colors you set out to and use and the fabric you chose?? I have changed my mind now just four times....each time I make a block....not like I planned it at all. Have number four....diamond block....pieces all cut out and ready to sew up and post.

But a phone call from BIL who says he is coming to help dig up sweet potatoes with DH so, will see what I need to do to assist them...if anything. What is your favorite sweet potato dish? What are you doing to get ready for the coming holidays and winter?

Mark your calenders,

A new 'SYE" Quiltalong will be starting September 3, 2013

On this quiltalong we'll be making a total of twelve 16" x 14" rectangular blocks.

Two a month with the exception of December. all of these blocks are paperpieced.

This is sort of a mystery as we don't know the layout for the quilt.

The patterns for these blocks can be downloaded "free" from www.quiltingonthesquare.com.
Blocks April thru August are posted in their BOM section.
Permission has been given from the website.

This is for all levels of sewing...no sign up, Do it at your own pace.
Lots of support & fun with this group.
Come take a look..better yet..join us in this new venture !

Startng September 3, 2013, there will be a new thread every month where we will discuss our progress & post the photos of the blocks that will be assigned for that month.
Please do not post any photos of blocks that are not assigned for that month.

Until the official start of this journey on Sept 3, 2013 we will all communicate in this thread.
Please, no posting of additional threads related to this by anyone other than myself...It becomes to confusing for anyone trying to find the correct thread..

I believe I've covered all "bases" and it's time to begin our journey...Honchey

.

I finally reached out and did my first paper piecing from the April block. I was amazed that I could actually do it on my own (used tutorials) and that it came out pretty well. Love the blocks in this thread. thanks so much.

Isn't it fun to learn a new skill and actually like how it turns out? Looking forward to seeing your blocks.

Sounds and looks like fun! Just signed up and downloaded the patterns. Going to start today. Are the photos to be sent to the email address on the site?

Regarding: "Startng September 3, 2013, there will be a new thread every month where we will discuss our progress & post the photos of the blocks that will be assigned for that month." I don't see that on the site... am I missing something (very possible!). Thanks.

QuiltingNinaSue, it's been a little quiet around here. I for one have had a super busy week. It's good to be busy, but I wish I wasn't quite this busy. I'm at a bit of a standstill with my block. I'm still on the log cabin one, about halfway through and am a bit stumped about what colors I want to put in spots #10, 11, 12, and 13. I think I'm almost committed to colors and hope to have a few minutes this afternoon to work on it.

Hmmmm . . . my favoriate sweet potato dish - the baked sweet potato that Texas Roadhouse makes!! LOL I don't have to cook it or clean it up. :D I love sweet potatoes but have never tried to grow them. I wonder if they'd grow in my climate, I think I'm zone 7. Would love to try. In the past I've only grown tomatoes, green and red peppers, hot peppers, beans (bush) and some herbs. We actually did just try a new sweet potato dish a couple of weeks ago. Chop onions and sweet potatoes and bake it. Can't remember what else was in it, but I just googled a recipe, you can find plenty. It was good! QNS, How do you store your sweet potatoes after you harvest them?

I have had a few minutes here and there to work on a binding for one of my quilts. I've been watching the archived quiltcam of Bonnie Hunter while I work on it. Does anyone watch her? I was fortunate enough to take a class from her in the fall of 2011. It was on a quilt from her book String Fling. Until then I really didn't know about her, but now I'm kind of hooked.

Happy stitching, everyone!

Cindy - You will find several Bonnie Hunter fans in our group. I can hardly wait until she posts the fabric choices next week (the 23rd I think). I've done her last three Mystery Quilts and they have turned out just beautiful. One is on my bed right now, the other two I still need to sandwich and quilt. There should be a thread posted on the Mystery here on the board, I have participated in it the last two years. Hope you join us this year!

Meet you all in the virtual RV with your favorite SWP dish and we can taste them all!!:o:o:o:o:o

In the upper right of this page (and other pages) is an advanced search oblong white box. Type in the Spike your English September and it will bring up the thread to post in....same for October and after November 3rd there will be a November thread to post in. Mirabelle has posted a suggested rotary cutting for each block to help us out. All are welcome to join with those of us that are doing the blocks. If you have any questions, someone will come up with the answer or PM one of us.

JanRN I love, love, love your blues. Delightful, wonderful, and love all four together, too.
