Can someone help, or direct me to a site that can help with thread tension? I was sewing right along a couple days ago, and my tension got all wonky all of a sudden. The top thread is completely lax, and the bobbin thread is showing on the top side of the fabric.

I have tried everything. I changed the needle, I rethreaded, I rethreaded with a different thread, I tried sewing on different fabric, I adjusted the tension knob, I adjusted the tension screw, I rethreaded my bobbins, and nothing is helping. I am freaking out a little! Is it time to take my sweet girl to the hospital?

You did not say what kind of sewing machine you are using. Did you check for lint and dust or a small piece of thread caught in the in the bobbin area? If your machine is a modern one she may be out of time and need to go in for servicing.

I am using a Singer Professional 2010. I did check for lint and dusted the bobbin area, and the feed dogs too. I have a guy I can call for servicing. I may give him a call later. Thanks, Caroline.

It has been posted. You can quickly find it by going to Home & looking under the Blocks of the Month.

I have a little blue thing called a "Tension King" that I bougt years ago. Using it really helped me. If things go off I use it. It has me thread the machine above and then pull on the barrel until the plunger comes out to the line "A" adjusting the tension until it is in the right mark, then do the same with the bobbin thread with the plunger pulling out to the mark "B". I haven't seen one recently but I would hope they are still out there.

I googled it and didn't find anything.

I am so excited to start something like this at the beginning of 2014. I broke my wrist a year ago on November 25th and I am still struggling with it but I am going to push myself to do something like this to hopefully work out the additional kinks. This is a good way to get a quilt made and learn lots of new blocks and ways to the pattern together. Can't wait to get started.
