I think my only regret with my blocks is I have not been using the same background on all of them. I haven't chosen what will be the corner pieces but I will use the same fabric on that part. I did the December block that is posted on the website where we are getting them from. It's my favorite one yet!! I won't share it until it's due time.

Went looking for this thread by "Advanced search" at the top of the pages here on QB and it popped right up. This is where we can all discuss things, ...hint, hint to all those who lose their way...not for photo pictures of SYE, just discussions....
I Love all the posted pictures, but hope now everyone has it sorted out....and how to find it. Makes life a bit simpler for all of us. But I can understand the excitement of " I am finished!! Now to post it"...and accidentally get it in the wrong place in all the excitement to share. It has happened to me also when I started with the FWSQ and PC, so just please continue with your postings in the right place, at the right time...we want to view them all! Not to say I might make a mistake yet, but to err is human, and if you do err, that just might mean that you are human too!!! And forgiveness is divine!!
I certainly did not want to scare anyone away from discussion of the SYE here. Are you using the colors you set out to and use and the fabric you chose?? I have changed my mind now just four times....each time I make a block....not like I planned it at all. Have number four....diamond block....pieces all cut out and ready to sew up and post.
But a phone call from BIL who says he is coming to help dig up sweet potatoes with DH so, will see what I need to do to assist them...if anything. What is your favorite sweet potato dish? What are you doing to get ready for the coming holidays and winter?
QuiltingNinaSue, it's been a little quiet around here. I for one have had a super busy week. It's good to be busy, but I wish I wasn't quite this busy. I'm at a bit of a standstill with my block. I'm still on the log cabin one, about halfway through and am a bit stumped about what colors I want to put in spots #10, 11, 12, and 13. I think I'm almost committed to colors and hope to have a few minutes this afternoon to work on it.
Hmmmm . . . my favoriate sweet potato dish - the baked sweet potato that Texas Roadhouse makes!! LOL I don't have to cook it or clean it up. I love sweet potatoes but have never tried to grow them. I wonder if they'd grow in my climate, I think I'm zone 7. Would love to try. In the past I've only grown tomatoes, green and red peppers, hot peppers, beans (bush) and some herbs. We actually did just try a new sweet potato dish a couple of weeks ago. Chop onions and sweet potatoes and bake it. Can't remember what else was in it, but I just googled a recipe, you can find plenty. It was good! QNS, How do you store your sweet potatoes after you harvest them?
I have had a few minutes here and there to work on a binding for one of my quilts. I've been watching the archived quiltcam of Bonnie Hunter while I work on it. Does anyone watch her? I was fortunate enough to take a class from her in the fall of 2011. It was on a quilt from her book String Fling. Until then I really didn't know about her, but now I'm kind of hooked.
Happy stitching, everyone!
I love baked sweet potatoes, with lots of butter. My grandmother made a dish every thanksgiving that had sweet potatoes, walnuts, marshmallows and cinnamon.
Happy Sewing, Lisa E.
Lstew, I put together sliced apples with sweet potatoes, throw marshmallows in the bottom with walnuts or pecans, then add the sliced apples (peeled) with the sweet potatoes and butter on top....then mix it all up after baking and serve it. Can put a few marshmallows on top and broil them for about five minutes to 'dress' it up a bit. Always spray my dish with oil, so it will come clean easier. Love the new crock pan liners, they save a lot of 'elbow' grease cleaning up the mess. That is the way I do my green beans and mushroom dish. What do you add to that?
Love fresh sweet potato with butter and brown sugar. Yes, Cindy, if you have access to a good eating place, then that is an excellent choice with no dirty dishes and pans and pans. I love to cook...one Thanksgiving we went out to eat, then I discovered no 'leftovers' and baked up a whole meal anyway. So we did not try that again.
My Diamond all around is ready to sew together; might finish today (hope). have a good day.
