Oooohhh I love the Stonehenge fabric, what a stunning quilt that will make..

I think the best advice I can give for those struggling with fabric choices etc is to relax and breathe, as you see pics of fabric and blocks being posted you will get an idea of color and placement, but above all else don't give up. You are in good company here and we don't let anyone fall by the wayside.

I am rethinking my fabric choices every day

Now I want to do mine out of a fabric range!! Hahaha
Toooo much pretty fabric out there to choose from.. Determined to use my stash tho!!

And yes mum gave me black fusions to use as my background, she can raid my stash anytime she wants... Hahaha (it works well actually coz we both have different tastes in fabric...)

I am going to get about 2 yards of a white on white because I don't want to run out of my background color.

I made a chart of the color of each block that she has posted so far. She has used 17 different colors, not including the backgrounds. I like Honchey's idea of using a collection from one of the designers, but the ones I liked had larger prints than I thought would work with this pattern. The pattern pieces are really small. I only had to buy 4 yards so far, all the rest was from my stash.

Thank you. This is very helpful. I want to primarily use my stash and do have a bolt of a fine ferny white on white -- yeah- you read that right - a whole bolt! So that will definitely be my main background. Also, by using white, any colour will go with it. I'll stash shop early next week and post what ideas I come up with. I'm beginning to get excited -- just hope ya'll will hold my hand when I come back on and whinge -- "but this is too hard!".

Dungeonquilter -- those stonehenge prints are fabulous. That will make one fine quilt.

Just printed my patterns..not that I can quite begin working on them lol, but they are ready for me when I ready for them haha.

And I know it is on the pattern, but it bears repeating..make sure you are printing ACTUAL SIZE..I had a horror story one time when I PPed four sections for a block only to discover after all four has been pieced with oh sew many pieces, that three of them were one size and the fourth was the other..and the one was the actual right size so I had to redo three sections..not fun! So please double check every time you print.

Next week I am going to raid my stash and see what fabrics I want to use..I am pretty sure I am set on using a black background with my bright batiks..all scrappy brights..have tons of FQs that need to be used..my FQ drawers are overlfowing!

Another hint I found useful from this board (of course) was to print those patterns out on newsprint paper. You can find a child's scribble pad at the dollar store and cut the pages to 8 1/2 X 11. I actually ended up buying a ream of newsprint (actually bought 2, as the shipping was the same as 1). This paper tears so easily when trying to get it apart.

Just got back from the quilt show, and got batteries. And, to my surprise, I got an honorable mention on my chicken quilt. Will post that here also.

JNJo .... How many more reasons can we all come up with??

Honchey ... get your hook AND lasso!!

OKSGlad ... oh time will drag you into the Spike Vortex! East Coast south? or North? Yes indeed, put those plans in place!

DungeonQuilter ... ooooh those are beautiful. What about going with either the darkest or lightest of one of the blue or copper? (would need to buy yardage)

JeanieG ... Fusions are not my only love ... I have this thing about Stonehenge too! And take note, of the other Fusions lover!!! Good job on the fabric count.

MiraB ... if you like Stonehenge, imagine a FWS all in Stonehenge (a friend is doing that)

MiraBsDD ... which Fusions is your black?

KwiltKrazy ... Congratulations on your Quilt!! My goodness, look at all those feathers!

Fabric Choices ... I agree .. the coding of different backgrounds is a little confusing. In the end, I just looked at the block and figured out what they were talking about. Another way is to take the pattern and colour in the pieces with according to the colours you are thinking of using. That'll help you sort it out too. The numbers of fabrics will vary .... potentially some will never re-use a fabric in a 2nd block ... and some will use the same fabric twice in a block, where two different ones are called for. That's what gives each of us that "unique" look to our projects.

Not sure what mine will be ... scrappy? subtle? muted? dark? light? bright and bold? or ????? I change my mind constantly!

I use the Crayla Doodle Pad from Wal-Mart. I have to trim down the size a little but that doesn't take too long. Next time I use a piece I think I'll try to feed it through the printer and see how it does without trimming it.

Kwiltkrazy - your quilt is absolutely wonderful. Did you do the quilting yourself? Great job if you did, wish I could quilt like that! Your fabrics look like they will work real well too. What fun we are having already!
