I added 4 inch borders so that I could use 4 leftover four patch blocks in the corners. I set two goals for January, making a quilt for a graduating grandson (one of three this year) was the first one. Thanks Judy for helping me meet one of my goals!
Love your quilt! I'm very partial to chocolate & tourquoise.

I posted this pic at the other site, but thought I'd post it here too. Will be a child donation quilt...hopefully can get it quilted & bound by next month to turn in to the guild. It is LITERALLY a scrap quilt!!!

Irish, the loops were taught in a quilting class i had taken about 5 years ago. those showing up, don't look exactly like it was taught tho. must have been getting tired. one loop is suppose to be on one side of the 4" strip, then have a nice curve to the other side for the next one to lay next to it. maybe someone has a better pic than mine. on 2nd thought, i relooked. they are okay.

Cindy, i like your black, it looks nice the way you did it.

Thats the one I always use to download pictures, never noticed before that there really is a tree in it!

Vicki, you took scrappy to a whole new level. Finishing blue makes the stars stand out. Is the binding going to be scrappy?

Everyone's tops are looking so great! How much fun has this been? Love that they are all so different from such a simple pattern. Judy sure did pick a winner and we all did an excellent job of making it our own!

Everyones quilts are looking so good. I am hoping to layer and quilt mine later this week so it doesn't become another UFO. I think I am going to donate it to the school carnival. Sewnso I like your loops. I was thinking of doing a circle of feathers in the 9 patches(that is what I am currently practicing) and maybe I will do the loops in the sashing. I am thinking of signing up for one of the FMQ classes on Craftsy. Everyone keep the pictures coming. I enjoy seeing all the different ones.

I'm so excited to report I'M FINISHED!!!

Remember I said I was making quilts for all my MIL's 23grandchildren and 6 children: well, Here is number 1 or 29...I think I'll count backwards so I know how many I have left... I'm weird that way I know.

It measures 55"x70". I used 100% Grandma's scraps. Well, I cut 4.5" squares out of her yardage. And yes, the backing/binding is in fuchsia. I've got to use it sometime, and it was in her closet, so this one is the winner of the fuchsia award. (I have enough fuchsia for one more quilt.) I did all the quilting on my Viking Topaz30. My first attempt at quilting!!! It was really scary, but I practiced on an old pillow case first. I did outline and swirling in the stars, free motion in the 9patches, and a heart/flower/heart on the sashes. It was my second time to do mitered binding. It washed up really nicely. I used two scrap pieces of Hobbs cotton batting that I zigzagged together. I really like it a lot and hope it's received well from one of the Grandchildren.

I have 28 to go and I am so tempted to just make them all in Judy's design. It was so fun and easy. I can make them look different by changing up the sash. I will label all the Grandma Quilts "From Grandma's Closet". All the family knows what is/was in her closet. Until Aunt Sheri cleaned it out...

Thank you Judy, for this great GREAT mystery!
