never tried cordless but you can get CHEAP Rowentas at Big Lots. they're "remanufactured" but have a warranty & they are anywhere from $30 to $50 depending on model. I always keep a spare on hand, as this is about 1/3 of regular price. I also find irons only last about 3 years tops, but I have well water so that may be the culprit. at this price, I don't mind too much

I had a Rowenta cordless and loved it. It managed all my quilting fabric and was very popular among my quilting friends when I brought it to the retreats. It lasted 5 years and I am currently looking for another one.
