I've been busy cutting my squares down to size before beginning the task of piecing them all together. So far I've trimmed 195 squares. And this is the pile I have to show for it.

  2. Pictures of the final mannequin tree

    by , 01-08-2017 at 10:36 PM
So today I started taking apart the mannequin "Christmas" tree but before I did I took lots of pictures. Now the process to cut the threads, trim the squares, and put it all together begins.

  3. Week 7 Progress Bonnie Hunter En Provence Quilt

    by , 01-07-2017 at 09:51 PM
Finished week 6 on Friday. Spent Friday evening and Saturday cutting and sewing the QSTs for week 7. Done all the small blocks. Now to put everything on a wall and begin the process of assembly all the blocks. Will take a final picture of my "tree" tomorrow before I take it all down to put on the wall.
  4. Week 6 Bonnie Hunter Mystery Quilt

    by , 01-05-2017 at 07:43 PM
Spend a good bit of time sewing today and I'm about 10 blocks shy of my quota for QST in week 6. Maybe tomorrow I'll find time to cut the rest and sew them together. At least I'm pressing as I go. Need to get more pictures though.
  5. Less than a week since mom moved and I still haven't caught up

    by , 01-04-2017 at 06:18 PM
So the junk man finally came 1 1/2 hours late last Friday and said he thought they wouldn't be able to take everything. I told him that's why I mentioned when I booked them that it was a 5 bedroom house that was to be completely cleaned out of whatever what not permanently attached to the structure. And that the realtor was due in the next day to take pictures of the house so it could be put on the market. 2 full truck loads later, the house was empty. And then yesterday the realtor calls me ...
  6. Mom's moved and I'm only 1 week behind

    by , 12-29-2016 at 05:32 PM
What can I say after 54 years of memories in my parent's house? So glad all the moving worked out so well this week, mom is already settled into her new studio apartment with all the boxes unpacked and pictures on the wall. And after I meet the GOT Junk people tomorrow to take whatever remains out of her house, I'll be free to sew and catch up on week 5's clue. I figured out last night how to cut half square triangles from strips I already cut to 3 1/2 in size. But I haven't cut them yet for ...
  7. Week 5 Progress on En Provence

    by , 12-26-2016 at 06:16 AM
My son is getting me an essential triangle tool so I'm trying to wait for that before doing anything else with my 3 1/2" strips. Once I get it, I'm sure it will take no time at all to make 64 half triangles.

  8. Last Christmas in the same old house it's been in for the last 54 years

    by , 12-24-2016 at 09:15 PM
On December 29th, 1962 my family moved into the house I was raised in. This year was a bittersweet Christmas eve as it was the last time my family will come together in that space to celebrate. There have been so many memories over the years of all the Christmas eves of the past where we have gathered together in good times and not so good. This year was probably the smallest gathering we've had in a long time as the next generation (my kids and their cousins) have had to work, or were traveling ...
  9. What a quaundry I'm in

    by , 12-22-2016 at 08:19 PM
I mistakenly cut all my neutrals for the En Provence quilt into 2 inch strips during my enthusiasm to complete week 1. So I went and bought more neutral fabric (1 piece only) to complete week 2. Lucky for me, I didn't need to go buy more neutral until week 4 so I bought the same print I got for week 2 rather than try to go scrappy like I did for week 1. Now that we are using neutral again, I find myself wondering if I should shop for more scrappy neutral material, use what's left from what I ...
  10. Done week 4 before midnight!

    by , 12-19-2016 at 05:59 AM
Since my last post I've finished week 3, bought more neutral fabric and my backing fabric, and sewed all 80 triangle in a squares for week 4. I'm so much happier at how this group turned out, make me want to go back and look at what I did on my earlier attempts during week 2.
