  1. Pillowcase Drama ---- or a Fun Thing Happened on the way to Sew Expo #30 at Puyallup

    by , 02-18-2014 at 12:49 PM
I am looking forward to a trip to Puyallup, WA to attend if only for one day the 30th annual Sewing and Stitchery Expo held at the Washington State Fairgrounds Feb 27,28, March 1,and 2. I love checking out the vendor booths and picking up unique fabrics and notions. I love seeing the demo quilts and the quilted apparel my fellow enthusiasts have created. For a change, I hope to be one of the people wearing my creation instead of just being a looky lou.

  2. Back from the twilight zone.....

    by , 02-12-2014 at 10:14 PM
I have been off the Quilting Board for way too long. Life happened and I seem to have crashed and burned a bit. My apologies if I missed anything I should've done. I was having a difficult time and then last year my mother passed away. I escape into my sewing and quilting and have just recently started to resurface publicly. so, where am I at as a quilter? Eye candy got my attention, then WOW I saw this machine in action! First demonstrated by a severely physically and developmentally challenged man at the local quilt shop, I have been intrigued by the possibilities that the free hand system allows. He then proceeded to show me that his stitches ...

    by , 05-14-2012 at 10:53 PM
I have been working with some beautiful dragonfly stained glass effect print from Freedom Fabrics Deco Delight collection constructing a quilt to be raffled for our local Relay For Life. A gracious friend quilted it on her Bernina 820. I have a few spots to do (corners and one spot where bobbin thread ran out but top continued to stitch) but otherwise it is quilted. I used the Casablanca pattern from Blank Quilting for the top -- added a row on each side of the center area and added two borders. ...

  5. Nine Patch Revisited

    by , 01-17-2012 at 10:42 PM
I have ooooohed and awed over several recently viewed D9P and marveled at the intricate looking recreations. And then I remembered the passed along blocks from another crafter that have been sitting in a tote gathering energy to become something. Perhaps instead of getting lost in the how to disappear my 9 patches , I should just revisit the simple quilts that I helped my grandmothers make. Simple blocks using whatever we had left drom school clothes or from making over a "hand me down" ...
