I just returned home from quilt club this morning - we had a theme "something always on the table for Thanksgiving" and were to bring an item for show and tell; I brought grandma's hardanger table topper that sits on a solid tablecloth that way design is easier to see - I also brought along my gravy ladle as it is the one thing that always makes it to the thanksgiving table. Many girls brougt knick knacks that they set out - we don't do a lot of that any more.

Hi everyone - it's been a pretty nonproductive week and a half; last Wednesday, August 15th, my boss of 19 years passed away from lung cancer; he was 84 years old. I'm going to miss him; he was like a father firgure as well as a boss; a very kind and considerate man; a little gruff around the edges but when you took the time to look beneath all the gruffness you found a real gem. Going to miss you John - rest in peace buddy.
My best quilting buddy and co-pilot for shop hops "Judi" had her mom pick up block kits for design a quilt block contest for their county fair - she lives one county over from me; all 10 or 12 participants will receive the same fabric - I measured and it's 3 fat eighths in blue tan and cream - reminds me of the civil war fabrics. Keep in mind I have never designed my own block from start to finish - block has to be 12-1/2" unfinished square. Something original - original I'm not;
Last night was my first venture into Zumba dancing - I'm still trying to catch my breath. It is said that it takes three lessons to learn the steps and be semi proficient at doing them - I'm guessing it will take me longer; as I said I'm still trying to catch my breath and my oxygen deprived brain will not catch on that quickly. This is a mother daughter thing - I saw the ad and suggested to my daughter that she might like attending "come on mom - put your money where your mouth is!!!"
I finished my third step in the Mystery Quilt Train Ride this morning; next clue will be given next Saturday. I'm hopeful that the black fabric I chose will work - it's not as good of quality as the other fabrics and besides that it's from some time back in the late 90's. I decided to try a mystery quilt because some of my quilt club friends have done them in the past at quilt retreat and make them sound like a lot of fun - what they don't always say is that they never finish them - they get started
Today I received information regarding my secret pal - I love getting a new name. Brian and I look at the world map and find out where they're at and then look on line to discover a little bit about their home town; it's like getting a small geography lesson later in life. Thank you moderators for hosting all the fun events.
Yesterday my daughter and I traveled to Blooming Prairie for their city wide rummage sale event - not looking for anything in particular. I found an old Corning perculator coffee pot for a dollar and just had to bring it home - deal of the day.
I'm sitting here this morning checking out posts on QB and enjoying a cup of fresh perc'd coffee - yummo - far better than the fresh drip.
