AAQI is the Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative. It was founded in 2006 by Ami Simms, a quilter in Michigan. AAQI is entirely run by volunteers, so

I was very close to having the 10,000th quilt for AAQI. One of my quilts is 10003! Oh well, I can try again when they get to 11,000!

    Hope you like seeing them!

  3. Poo, Bearcats lost! Now, on to the Xavier Musketeers!

by , 03-23-2012 at 03:21 PM (LeslieFrost -- life in the woods of NW Wisconsin)
Just had 'Aunt Betty's Bar B Q' (sloppy joes) with coleslaw and peas. This meal is from my childhood in Cincinnati. I used 4 lbs of hamburger, so we'll have lots of leftovers. Maybe I won't have to cook at all tomorrow.

My sister and sister-in-law both work at Xavier, so I've developed a loyalty to them -- I certainly didn't have that while growing up in Cincy -- then, it was the Bearcats all the way.

I have two handwork projects to work on while watching b ball tonight.

  4. Holding my breath for the Bearcats!

Whew, watching all of this college basketball is tiring! The Cincy Bearcats are just five points behind Ohio State with about 7 minutes to go. I'm typing during the commercials.....

I would love to see both Cincy and Xavier go through to the next round!

    More later.....

  5. 3D Pinwheels WIP

by , 03-21-2012 at 05:21 PM (LeslieFrost -- life in the woods of NW Wisconsin)
Still in progress! I've got the 4 wide border strips done now, so just the 4 corner blocks to go. I quilted for hours today, so I'm taking tomorrow off!

In the A.M. I'll be on duty in the Spooner High School library from 9 am to noon, then I've got some errands to run.

I need something with wheels to cart my portable sewing machine to Guild meetings. I've seen some posts about a wheeled crate that Menard's sells, so I'll head to Rice Lake WI to see about that. May

The binding will be solid pink, when I get that far! I handquilted the center block today, both the pinwheel and the sashes and cornerstones around it. My fingers are sore! But I'm really

  7. March 15 -- And it's sunny and WARM -- this usually does not happen here!

This has been a funny old winter, that's for sure. I'm not sorry that we've leaped from snow (2 ft. of new stuff two weeks ago) right into mud season, but it is a little disconcerting.

The geese are back on the lake, there are lots of robins around, and I can take my daily walk outside again, without fear of slipping on ice/snow. Life is good. We can even open the windows a tad and let in some fresh air, although sometimes my DH goes around closing the ones I have just opened! He

Interestingly the blocks finish at 13" and I first found 13 blocks and then found another 13. Even though 13 is suppose to be a unlucky number this looks like this was meant to be.

  9. And more snow! And some quilting!

by , 03-04-2012 at 07:08 PM (LeslieFrost -- life in the woods of NW Wisconsin)
Well, snow every day since Wednesday! Not too much today, just a heavy dusting, but dear hubby did do some scraping with his ATV and plow blade (maybe just because he likes to do that?).

I finished two small quilts this weekend. One is 17" square and will go to my March DQ Swap partner, so I can't show it to you, but I can show the AAQI little quilt I made!

You can see that I did not venture out to take these pics, just opened the door and stuck the camera out -- I'm a chicken, and I like to keep my feet warm.
