I don't wash charms, jelly rolls etc. When I am finished with a project I put Shout Color Catchers in the wash with it.
They work great!
If I think something is sure to bleed I will soak it in a basin first.

Thank you! The pattern is not hard at all. Just sew strips.
I start with a 2 inch block, cut from strips. Then you just attach another, cut, press, proceed to the next one and on and on until you have the desired size block. Mine are about 10.5 inches.

I find the best way to keep them square is to square them up after the addition of each strip. Accurate cutting and seams are vital

Not all 2-1/2" strips are exactly 2-1/2". Ballipops are hand cut inBali so there is some variations there.

Here's something I found that assures us 2-1/2" strips when sewn.

When sewing two strips together, rather than measuring 1/4" to the right of the needle position, I measure 2-1/4" to the left of the needle. A piece of blue painter's tape is placed along the left edge of the 2-1/4".
