The DH and I leave Sat for a week in Phoenix and we can't wait--besides the chance to leave winter behind for a week of 70's temperatures, my FIL died last week and we've been very busy with funeral, etc--not to mention being in that numb, mourning phase despite his 92 year long life being so blessed in so many ways. And we were all blessed by his life.
So now I have basically 3 days to get ready for Phoenix--besides the usual laundry, packing, etc, I had fallen well behind on my quilting--so
DH and I leave in a couple of weeks for Phoenix for the first time! After the 2 weeks of ice and snow and super cold here I am ready for it,too! But so much to do before I pack my bag. I'm caught up on both a BOM at the LQS and also on blocks for a sampler class with my local Guild. Finally today I cut the blocks for a neice's T-shirt quilt and plan to get them stablized and start playing with the design before we leave--cause I've got another T-shirt quilt job pending! Once I get back
OK--here is that purple church charity quilt on the frame. Queen size. Liking it alot!
This is the "purple haze" church charity quilt still on the frame--it's now finished (except for label) and soon the tickets will be sold for the church nursery addition. Lots of marking on both borders and the white sashings for a stencil and then use of template in the multi purple blocks for a 4 point star with radiating lines. Glad it's finished!
My DH went to CO to ski with our daughter and SIL, so I have 5 days of no obligations and am free to quilt all night if I
want! I made up several soups and froze for them to take so have basically all my meals ready for the microwave. And our weather forecast is predicting snow on our already 1/2" of ice--so no reason to be out--sewing machine and long arm, here I come!!
Sorry that I can't seem to get the "up close" picture posted--I've switched to an inherited laptop with Vista and can see why it was replaced so quickly--trying to avoid having to buy a new laptop since my other one is ANCIENT, but this one's too frustrating.
I had a charity quilt for one of the guilds I belong to and was dreading the quilting. It was just not square. A fellow LA quilter told me it would be ok--only off a little when we did the "fold into quarters" test. So got it on the frame and found that all 3 of the borders where "off"--little pulls/tucks where they attached to each other even before I did anything! and the blocks were all wonky, too. Lots of potential for puckers and one even had about a 2" place that
I'm making a charity raffle quilt for my church. Decided that a "quick" but complex looking quilt would be to make 36 patch (2" blocks) scrappy looking 12" blocks with wide sashings and star cornerstones in the sashings using the Marti Michelle ruler. Blocks went together so nicely and had just enough fabric--although will finish at 11.5" instead of 12! Thought I'd get all the sashing done today--not happening! got a late start (re-chaulked the bath) and then realized--thankfully
I forced myself not to sew today(at least not now) and even have forced my husband to not watch football bowl games on TV all day--made him help me move/clean/re-arrange furniture in the basement (or what I think as my longarm room--he's thinking it's his man cave!). We lugged a shelf load of books out, he fixed the shelf and moved it, and we re-loaded. BUT I did manage to get him to donate some to charity--that is a huge step for a man that covets books. And then while he was putting all the
ok--it's a picture of the dreaded snowglobe quilt for my daughter. Next goal is to figure out how to post so you can actually see it!
