Just pulled a quilt off the longarm machine and am so frustrated. The back had a center with a border all the way around - I thought I had it all figured out so there would be a border all the way around once it was quilted, but the bottom of the quilt top came just to the bottom of the interior square ... no border on the bottom.
I am glad this is a 'charity' quilt, but and the recipient will never know it wasn't supposed to be the way it is, but it is so frustrating. I thought I
I have finished the first 20 blocks! I have been paper-piecing most of them - have to remove paper from the last three, then moving onto the next 5.
My previous post included pics - please don't look at the house - just realized that the bathroom was in some of the pics - this is our basement ... and the board behind the machine is the top - once the machine goes down into the cabinet, the entire top is covered by that one piece - it is in the worst condition - not sure how to fix - will be learning
I bought this at a yard sale this week - $40 - I fell in love with the machine and cabinet and just had to have it ... it runs, a little noisy, but a beautiful stitch.
I want to learn how to make it run better and rejuvinate the cabinet - don't want to strip and refinish as much as make it look better.
What a beautiful show - at least until the downpour started! My quilting friend and I were on our way to Bend right before it happened.
We were able to spend the morning looking at beautiful quilts - there was a light breeze so it didn't feel too hot. I have pictures of about 50 quilts that I took.
I like to take a picture of the label, then a picture of the whole quilt, then any close-ups. Since I have the label I have the story about the quilt and that is almost as
OK, I admit it! I am sitting here on this website instead of doing a quilt on my longarm. It is all loaded and ready to go, I just don't know what to do with it. It has a large (5" border, an inner border of triangles, another inner border of four patches and the center of the quilt is applique.
I know what I want to do with the applique. I am going to stitch around each piece, then do some small meandering in the area around them.
It's all the outer borders
I have done about 12 quilts for charity so far on my longarm so far this year. I have to admit, I enjoy doing freehand work over pantographs.
I have a group that makes a lot of scrappy pieced hearts for charity and I have been getting pretty good at doing hearts freehand. The one I did today had a lot of stop and starts because the maker of the top had put a sashing between the hearts. I did a wavy line in the sashing across and did some curly q's and hearts along the top and bottom,
I spent six hours at my local quilt shop quilting with friends. It has been a few weeks since I had been and it was good to catch up with everyone.
I had a stack of flannel sample squares that were given to me to make some charity quilts with. I have made one, and was able to decide on and cut out two more. There was enough that one of my friends purchased the rest of it to make one for herself. I now have money to give to the group to spend on supplies for more quilts!
Well, I am back home again. My husband and I spent the holiday weekend at our beach house. I was able to spend today quilting with my friends in town (before heading back to the Valley).
I am new to longarm quilting and they have been keeping me supplied with quilts to practice on. I returned one to them, was thinking how great it was to be down to five and then they send another one home with me.
I am heading back over in a few days and my goal is to get one quilt per
What a hectic May this has been - back from California (Disneyland) and then off to our house in Pacific City. We had a heat pump installed and I had to be there. This was all done on this past Tuesday and we had company that following weekend.
A good quilting friend of mine, and her husband, ride in a fundraiser bike ride called Reach the Beach and it ends in Pacific City. It's always nice to have them there for the weekend.
I spent the first few days of this week
