My husband and I spent yesterday in a class learning how to do maintenance on my Gammill. It was a long day, but I feel like we learned a lot and I know that I am not as afraid of the machine as I was before.
However ... I loaded a quilt on the machine today and could not get the darn thing to work in regulated mode. It worked great in manual (I'm not very good at keeping stitches even so I don't usually use this - will definitely need to practice). I was SICK!
First, I want to thank my husband for spending his day off learning how to maintain my longarm machine. We took a class with Ron Paul and he taught us so many things. I am anxious to use my machine to see if the adjustments we made helped with any issues I may or may not have known I was having - lol
But, one thing I know for sure, it is all clean, oiled and the settings are just perfect - now to load a quilt and take it for a spin.
There are several things on my wish
Just pulled a quilt off the longarm machine and am so frustrated. The back had a center with a border all the way around - I thought I had it all figured out so there would be a border all the way around once it was quilted, but the bottom of the quilt top came just to the bottom of the interior square ... no border on the bottom.
I am glad this is a 'charity' quilt, but and the recipient will never know it wasn't supposed to be the way it is, but it is so frustrating. I thought I
I have finished the first 20 blocks! I have been paper-piecing most of them - have to remove paper from the last three, then moving onto the next 5.
My previous post included pics - please don't look at the house - just realized that the bathroom was in some of the pics - this is our basement ... and the board behind the machine is the top - once the machine goes down into the cabinet, the entire top is covered by that one piece - it is in the worst condition - not sure how to fix - will be learning
I bought this at a yard sale this week - $40 - I fell in love with the machine and cabinet and just had to have it ... it runs, a little noisy, but a beautiful stitch.
I want to learn how to make it run better and rejuvinate the cabinet - don't want to strip and refinish as much as make it look better.
